I graduated from Vanderbilt University majoring in Computer Science and minoring in German. I have taken multiple courses using C++ including, but not limited to Data Structures and Algorithms. I have been programming in courses since high school, and have a lot of experience with C++ and Java. I also have often informally helped people with programming and math questions, but to be able to help more people would be incredibly fulfilling. I have been programming in courses since high school, and have a lot of experience with C++ and Java. I also have often informally helped people with programming and math questions, but to be able to help more people would be incredibly fulfilling. I really love helping people understand things and personally think it is some of the most rewarding work you can do.

Every time someone I help succeeds, I feel that I have done my job well. I discovered this while being a camp instructor with 6-12 (for 1 year) and K-7 (for 3 years) at a STEM based summer camp. This allowed me to realize how much I enjoyed explaining concepts and doing hands on work with a variety of age groups. I hope that I can translate that experience into an engaging and effective learning environment for students on this platform.

I have a step-by-step teaching style. I am firm believer that the student needs the tools presented in a clear and ordered way. If the student is feeling lost or overwhelmed, then I will not necessarily tell them the correct answer but will instead guide them towards it, taking note of what they struggle with. When students understand the reason behind a method of problem solving, they can use that knowledge to answer future problems, without being confused by differences in presentation.

I have the app, so I will respond quickly during my hours. I also am very flexible and will be available usually during crunch hours.

Exactly what I am looking for!

Anissa has been tutoring me for two semesters now. She has helped tremendously by reinforcing all of the material I have learned in class. She is very knowledgeable, patient, and easy going. What I like about her teaching methods is that she can explain all topics with ease, she breaks everything down into much simpler ideas which allow me to retain and understand the information better.
