I am a graduate from Mount Saint Mary College, with a Master's degree in Childhood Education. I hold a New York State Initial Certification in Childhood Education (Grades 1 through 6).
During my college career, I was able to have an array of different fieldwork experiences. The final requirement for my Master’s degree in childhood education was student teaching. This consisted of sixteen weeks of supervised teaching in two different placements. The first placement was a first grade class and the second placement was a fifth grade class. I was responsible for all teaching responsibilities for both placements.
I also have completed nearly 200 hours of fieldwork as a requirement for my graduate level classes over the last 2 years. During these fieldwork hours, I developed and implemented lessons for whole group instruction, and also worked individually with many students. I taught students in various settings including rural, suburban, and urban schools, including an elementary school in an impoverished neighborhood in the Bronx, NY.
In May of 2011 I began a long-term leave replacement for a first grade class. As the classroom teacher, I had full responsibility for planning and teaching all components of the class. I have collaborated extensively with other professionals in the school and maintained regular contact with parents regarding students’ status and progress.
