I'm an MIT-trained mechanical engineer with a PhD, and I've spent more than fifteen years helping students move from confusion to confidence in math, physics, and the sciences. I earned my bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Howard University, magna cum laude, my master's from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and my doctorate in mechanical engineering. My own path through calculus, differential equations, statistics, and physics is exactly what I now help students walk, and I remember what it feels like to be stuck before something suddenly makes sense.
My teaching experience is deep and varied. I served as a teaching assistant at MIT for Marine Hydrodynamics, and I spent years as a university lecturer teaching applied mechanics, fluid mechanics, and renewable energy, working with undergraduate and graduate students both in large classrooms and one on one. I have supervised graduate researchers from their first equations through the defense of their results, so I am comfortable meeting a student wherever they are, whether that's a high schooler preparing for the SAT or a college student facing their first course in differential equations.
My approach is patient and built around the individual. I start by finding out how a student actually thinks, then I break hard ideas into small, clear steps and connect them to things they already understand. I believe every student can learn quantitative subjects when the material is explained in a way that fits them, and I focus as much on building genuine confidence as on solving the problem in front of us. I tutor calculus, SAT math, statistics, physics, and differential equations, and I would be glad to help you or your child not just pass, but truly understand.
I have repeatedly helped students go from an F to an A in Fluid Mechanics in one semester.
