Hi, my name is Tamika. I have over 15 years experience instructing students and over 5 years experience tutoring students from Pre-K to college age. I have a Master's Degree in Education and I am a Georgia Certified Teacher. I am a compassionate person and I have a heart for children and education. I am certified in Special Education General Curriculum and the Special Education content areas of Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.
My specialty is Mathematics, which I have experience teaching, ranging from Basic Elementary Math to High school Algebra and High school Geometry. I took advanced Math college courses up to Infinite Series and 3-Dimensional Geometry and Calculus II. I have also taken courses on how to effectively and efficiently teach and tutor elementary, middle, and high school students in Math. Although, math is my specialty, I can also effectively and efficiently teach other subjects I am certified in by the state of Georgia and certified in through the tutoring company, Wyzant. I can also effectively teach writing, which is one of my passions.
In addition, I have my own personal copy of a background check with a clear and safe record from the State of Georgia, as well as, the one that is on file with Wyzant. It's important to know that your child is safe, especially due to the tragic events occurring in this world to our children.
Your children deserve the best education possible in this technologically advancing world. They are our future and the younger we can reach them to teach them now the more academically advanced they will be to be prepared to succeed as growing adults for the future. And I can get the job done to help prepare them now and for the future. It is crucial to start teaching children as young as infants because the younger they are the more they soak up information like sponges. It is also important to teach them to excel now to be able to thrive beyond competence in this fast pace world as adults.
This is my philosophy of teaching: Establish belief in self, as well as, confidence within students through repetition, much practice, hard work, and a positive mind set. Inspire them to love to learn by encouraging them to be inquisitive and seek and search for knowledge in their area of interests. Use the most effective way of learning for that student either through visual representations, auditory practices, and hands-on or kinesthetic experience that can be applied to real life experience or situations.
When we establish the foundation to teach the basics skills in education, that enables us to have a platform to build on to more advance levels and concepts. It's like a tower build of playing cards. The first foundation is established to build the next foundation. When we skip a level or row or miss putting a card in the right place (the skills) the tower falls. Then we end up having to start from scratch, from the foundation, to build the playing cards tower over and over again until the tower reaches it's peak or summit of success. I can help tutor and teach those foundational skills that many children miss which is sometimes why they don't advance successfully to the next academic level. Some of those basic skills include, but are not limited to, phonics, arithmetic, grammar. I can also teach them more advance skills if or when that foundation is established.
Furthermore, I'm here to help you and your child. So please don't hesitate to contact me. I hope to hear from you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
