Are you a young singer who’s trying to find your own voice? Maybe you’re an intermediate singer who just hasn’t been able to reach the next level of vocal technique. Even if you are an experienced artist who has sung for many years but might need to refresh yourself on the fundamentals, you’ve come to the right place.

I have studied and taught voice for over 15 years and I have extensive training and performance experience with pop, classical, gospel, jazz, and musical theater, as well as art songs. I have a Bachelors of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and have performed all over the country in countless plays, musicals, gospel choirs and have toured overseas in 4 European countries with well known and independent artists.

I’m accepting all levels of students from beginner to advanced. My lessons are highly individualized towards a student’s learning style, vocal abilities, and level of comprehension. My teaching strategy involves assessing your learning and studying styles, addressing your short-term and long-term goals and your vocal ability with you to create a workable action plan which will help empower an individual towards success. I want to work with students who are interested in learning not only how to sing using proper vocal technique, no matter the genre, but who truly want to fully express themselves through music.

I have worked with students age 14 to 18, young adults age 19 to 25, as well as established artists age 35+. I focus on healthy singing that is suitable for every distinct age group, along with methods to help with growth and consistent vocal technique. I also specialize in dramatic work and audition practice for those who are working professionally or preparing for a career in music. I have taught Ear Training for over 10 years. Hearing and identifying pitches is not always as easy as it seems. It requires a good ear and good relative pitch. While perfect pitch is rare, almost anyone can be taught to improve their musical hearing and learn how to identify when they are singing sharp, flat or off key. My goal is always to empower and enlighten my students so that they can sing with great confidence and proficiency.

I have been writing songs since I was a freshmen is high school. Songwriting is one of the intimate forms of self expression and should be treated as such. Because it is so personal, students must be made to feel completely at ease especially when they aren't as confident about their abilities. I make sure that my correction is always constructive and compassionate. When a student looks at me with a sense of understanding or has that "Aha moment" , that is one of the greatest rewards of being a teacher.

I received my BA in Voice Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, have performed several musical genres from classical to rock and having sung in 6 different languages including German, French and Italian, I am an artist, singer and vocal technique expert. I want my students to enjoy the process of learning proper breath support, tonal resonance, good posture, and dramatic interpretation and performance skills. Music has been a life long passion for me and it is also one of the greatest gifts that's ever been given to me. Now I'm here to share that gift with all of you.

Rashida is easily one of the best voice teachers that I've ever met, let alone studied under, in my 10 years of vocal training.
