I've had the pleasure of working with Jeff as a “tutee” during an MBA Corporate Finance class. I contacted Jeff while treading water in the class, and his instruction has greatly helped me understand complex finance concepts, build Excel formulas, and effectively prepare for exams. Jeff has been helping me with my MBA finance courses; his tutoring sessions are truly exceptional! Jeff knows finance concepts inside and out. He could always connect relevant concepts to understand different scenarios and make sense of the bigger picture. Aside from using Excel to illustrate problem solutions, he always wrote down step-by-step calculations on the whiteboard to help me understand the logic behind the ideas. This ability to demonstrate manual calculations indeed reveals a tutor’s mastery of the subject. Jeff could always understand my places of confusion without needing additional information and immediately elucidate relevant concepts. I've learned a lot from him as he explains complex ideas clearly and efficiently. He does not just help me solve one problem but teaches me how to solve a group of similar problems. I struggled with the conceptual side of finance more than math calculations. To help me study more effectively, Jeff could immediately come up with a simple example to connect math to the conceptual framework. For instance, he asked me to calculate a project’s return the way I calculate a bond’s capital gains yield to show me what the Internal Rate of Return means. When we reviewed practice questions, he always pointed out essential ideas to remember or emphasized places that trick people. Because of this, I improved my finals by 9 points by avoiding common mistakes.

Financial Management tutoring

I am taking an advanced financial management as part of an MBA program. I was not doing well on the exams and having trouble understanding the content. The class was all virtual and difficult to figure out the problems. I went from failing the tests to getting a decent grade in the class.
