I have an MS in Flight Test Engineering, and I have my BS in Mechanical Engineering. I am passionate about space, aviation, math, and teaching. I like to learn and help people reach their potential. I have tutored in subjects including math, physics, and standardized testing...

Hello, my name is Kelsey!

A little bit about me ...

I am a combat Army veteran where I served as a helicopter mechanic and deployed twice. I am now an Electrical and Test Engineer for Airbus Space and Defense.

I have an MS in Flight Test Engineering, and I have my BS in Mechanical Engineering. I am passionate about space, aviation, math, and teaching. I like to learn and help people reach their potential. I have tutored in subjects including math, physics, and standardized testing for various ages. It is a great joy to be able to help a student acquire enthusiasm for learning new things.

I am available to tutor in person or online via useful interactive tools provided by this site. We can collaborate and learn by drawing pictures, typing equations, explanations, and questions, and utilizing video and audio. My available tutoring days are Fri-Sun.

My methods of tutoring are utilizing graphs and pictures to express concepts to students who learn visually; working through problems step-by-step alongside the student; discussing concepts with students who learn through auditory means; asking thoughtful questions during tutoring sessions to reinforce learning; and teaching students to effectively utilize their textbooks to improve independent study.

Very soon, I am launching a new math learning center on the Space Coast! It will be geared towards better service to the community long term. The method will be diagnostic testing to create unique curriculums that cater to specific students and develop lasting problem solving skills.

Algebra 1 is the study of how variables change in reference to other variables and how polynomial graphs behave. Learning the formulas in an algebra course is not necessarily the most important goal. The most important ability that can be acquired from any algebra course is the skill to take the knowledge, (formulas), learned and apply them to all problems, standard or modified, more complex problems; this is the capability to look at a problem from all sides and solve it the easiest way. The most important thing to learn in algebra is to be able to write down given information, think over every possibility, and adapt to new problems.

Elementary Math

Elementary math teaches students to manipulate numbers by counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. This subject also provides a brief introduction to algebra (dealing with unknown variables) and cost/profit analysis.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the study of mathematical relationships that describe triangles. Concepts such as Sines, cosines, secants, cosecants, tangents, and cotangents are explored. Trigonometric relationships are important because they are later used in subjects such as Calculus.

Up to the challenge

I contacted Kelsey before the Thanksgiving holiday to help my freshman college son who was very behind in aviation mechanics labs. She mentioned she was studying to get her A&P license and thought she could help although her background was mechanical engineering. Kelsey reviewed the material and put together a schedule for her and my son. They worked together for the last 2 weeks and were able to get all his labs caught up and finished before the end of the semester. Kelsey was very patient and understanding about my son having dyslexia. The material was explained in a manner that my son understood.
