Hi! My name is Abbie, and I am an incoming MD Candidate at the FAU Schmidt College of Medicine. I graduated with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Mathematics and have a strong academic background in both quantitative and life sciences.

I have extensive experience in advanced mathematics, including AP Calculus AB (5 on the exam in 8th grade), AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science A, and AP Computer Science Principles. At the college level, I have completed coursework in Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations. I also studied Neural Networks in a mixed undergraduate/graduate-level course at Florida Tech, where I built models from scratch using multivariate calculus.

In addition to mathematics, I have a strong foundation in biology and chemistry through my neuroscience coursework and ongoing computational neuroscience research in the Pena Lab, where I study visual processing in tree shrews using stimulus-driven models of the visual cortex.

I have been tutoring for 9 years across levels ranging from Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus BC, as well as college-level math and science courses. I reactivated a chapter of Mu Alpha Theta National Math Honor Society and developed a structured tutoring program to support student success in mathematics.

My tutoring approach focuses on building true understanding rather than memorization. I emphasize the reasoning behind each problem so students can confidently apply concepts to new and unfamiliar questions.

While mathematics is my primary focus, I also enjoy helping students succeed in biology and chemistry by breaking down complex concepts into clear, intuitive steps.
