Hello, and welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and how I might help you or your child.

For nearly 14 years, I have worked as a professional educator and tutor through Wyzant and my private educational practice, helping students from elementary school through college, as well as adult learners, build confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.

I believe every learner can succeed with the right instruction, encouragement, and support. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and am completing a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education to better serve the diverse needs of my students.

As a twice-exceptional individual with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and autism, I understand firsthand that learning can be challenging. My grandparents often said, "Where there is a will, there is a way," and that philosophy continues to guide my teaching. I help students build on their strengths while developing confidence, effective learning strategies, and independence.

Before becoming a full-time educator, I worked in technology, graphic and web design, consulting, and corporate training. Those experiences strengthened the communication, problem-solving, and instructional skills I bring to every lesson.

I tutor reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, executive functioning, study skills, career development, and students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences.

I look forward to helping you or your child discover that learning can be both successful and enjoyable!

She ghosted us!

She ghosted me and my son! She just quit no warning or anything. It was at a time that he really needed her. Don’t count on her! She doesn’t answer back. I thought everything was going well but I guess not. This isn’t cool.

Tutor responded:

Hello Susan, My apologies for not responding. In our last session, I recommended that another tutor be found. Both my mother and stepmother were very ill at the time and have since passed, limiting my ability to work with your son then and connect until now. I would gladly assist if there is anything I can do going forward.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Excel spreadsheet review and formulas

Lorie reviewed basic spreadsheets and how to set them up appropriately. How to create a formula in order to create a table or graph. We discussed the maintenance of my data, and as a nurse that doesn’t use this tool frequently…this is priceless. Lorie is AMAZING!
