I've been programming for over six years; my huge passion for it is why I majored in it, not the other way around.
I'm self-taught at the core and have always poured more hours into programming and personal projects than any classroom required. I'm most fluent in Python, I daily drive Linux, and I have a deep interest in operating systems and how computers actually work under the hood. I started tutoring on Wyzant during my first year of college and earned a 4.9 rating across 10 reviews, before I even had much formal education under my belt. Since then I've grown enormously as both a programmer and a computer scientist. I genuinely love explaining things. I get almost obsessed with finding the clearest, most intuitive way to deliver a concept to someone, and as Feynman put it, teaching is one of the best ways to sharpen your own understanding; something I've experienced firsthand. I'm patient, I adapt to wherever the student is at, and I don't bluff through material. If I need to review something to help you well, I'll do that honestly. I've worked with complete beginners, college students, and working professionals, and I'm comfortable with all ages including younger students.

Algebra 1

Math has been my strongest subject since childhood and I took high-level maths in college, so my algebra is very fluent. I can break down variables, equations, inequalities, and word problems in ways that build real intuition rather than rote memorization. I'm patient and good at identifying exactly where a student's understanding breaks down. I relate algebra concepts to practical thinking and problem-solving.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a strong math background through my computer science degree and personal aptitude; it was always my favorite subject in school. I'm comfortable with polynomials, logarithms, sequences, systems of equations, and everything in the Algebra 2 curriculum. I focus on building understanding of why methods work, not just how to execute them mechanically. I can connect these topics to their applications in science and programming for students who want that motivation.
Calculus

Calculus

I completed the full calculus sequence (Calc 1, 2, & 3), starting with high school AP Calc (1) and continuing with my bachelor's degree in computer science. I'm comfortable with limits, derivatives, integrals, and their applications. I'm best suited for Calculus 1 and some Calculus 2 students, as I am not actively fresh on more advanced calculus curriculums. I'm patient with students who find the jump from algebra to calculus intimidating, which I can help greatly with as I find that Calculus 1 can be very intuitive when explained correctly.

I've been programming for over six years, starting self-taught before pursuing my degree, with countless projects under my belt. I'm comfortable across multiple languages and paradigms, with deep understanding of how code actually executes at the system level. I recently completed my Bachelor's in Computer Science from Oregon State University. Data structures and algorithms is one of my favorite areas of computer science, I find it to be intuitive and incredibly fun. I have a thorough understanding of arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, graphs, hash maps, sorting, searching, and complexity analysis. I also have experience with LeetCode-style problem solving and can help with technical interview preparation, which has allowed me to pass technical interviews with Google. I break down these concepts with clear diagrams, hands-on step-by-step walkthroughs, and real code implementations.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

Discrete math was a required course for my CS degree, which I passed with an A. It was foundational to my computer science education and I've applied it across multiple courses. I'm comfortable with logic, set theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and recurrence relations - but can not help with proofs. I can connect abstract discrete math concepts to their practical applications in programming and CS. I'm patient with students who find the abstract nature of the course unfamiliar.

I've been deeply immersed in computers for years: I've built my own machines, I daily drive Linux, and I'm comfortable navigating any operating system. I can help with understanding file systems, the command line, networking basics, system setup, and general computer literacy. I'm patient with beginners who are just getting comfortable with technology and I keep explanations practical and jargon-free.

Linux

I've daily driven Linux for years and have deep familiarity with the command line, shell scripting, file systems, permissions, package management, and system administration. I'm also studying operating systems in depth (e.g. processes, memory, scheduling), which gives me a much deeper understanding than just surface-level usage. I'm even attending the Linux Foundation conference in October. I can help with everything from getting comfortable with the terminal to configuring a system to understanding what's happening under the hood.
Macintosh

Macintosh

I've spent many years using Mac computers like iMacs, MacBooks, Mac minis, etc. Since then I've transitioned to Linux, but both OSes are Unix-based, meaning my experience continues to transfer. I can help with terminal usage, system navigation, file management, and general productivity on a Mac. I'm practical and focused on what the student needs to get done. I'm comfortable helping both casual users and students who want to use their Mac for programming.

I used Windows for most of my life, since I was a kid. It started with gaming, school, eventually programming, and I even built my own Windows computers, having to install the operating system myself from scratch. I've done practically everything with Windows including installing countless software, configuring and formatting hard drives, installing it on computers I build, and there's nothing I can't do without reference & research.

I have a natural aptitude for math and genuine patience with younger students who are still building their foundations. I can help with fractions, decimals, ratios, basic equations, and the transition into algebraic thinking. I focus on making sure students actually understand concepts rather than just memorizing procedures. Building a strong prealgebra foundation makes everything that follows much easier.

I have a deep math background and I'm comfortable with all precalculus topics including functions, trigonometry, logarithms, sequences, and limits introduction. I focus on building the conceptual groundwork that makes calculus manageable rather than just drilling problems. I can help students see how these topics connect to each other and to what comes next. I'm patient with students who feel stuck at this transitional stage.

Python is my strongest language by far, with over six years of hands-on experience building real projects, as well as using it throughout my degree. I understand the language deeply: from beginner fundamentals through object-oriented design, file I/O, scripting, libraries, and Pythonic best practices. My very first Wyzant student was a working professional I tutored for ten sessions in Python. I teach not just how to write code but how to think through problems and debug effectively.
UNIX

UNIX

I daily drive Linux and have years of hands-on experience with Unix-based systems. I understand the shell, processes, file systems, permissions, pipes, scripting, and system-level concepts in depth. I'm actively studying operating system internals which gives me a thorough understanding of what's happening beneath the command line. George tutored me for a C programming class, and I learned alot. He gave me little tricks to troubleshoot, simplified difficult concepts, and gave me valuable advice on studying any type of language.
