Hello everyone,
I’m a graduate of Florida State University’s College of Arts and Sciences. I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian which encompassed an in-depth study of advanced Italian grammar, conversation, literature and society. I am also certified by l’Università per stranieri di Siena through their widely recognized language proficiency exam CILS (Certificazione d’italiano come lingua straniera) as C1 proficient in Italian. I will continue my Italian studies in Lugano, Italian Switzerland at l’Università della Svizzera italiana, pursuing a Masters in lingua, letteratura e civiltà italiana.
I have tutored Italian language and diction to students of various ages and levels of development, however most of them have been adult beginners as well as those who wanted to learn some basic conversational Italian for their travels to Italy.

I have recently sung the supporting roles of the Vain Man and the Snake in Rachel Portman’s Opera “The Little Prince” in the Savannah Voice Festival. Previous experience includes singing in an FSU outreach English reduction of W.A. Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” as Ferrando for middle schools in the Leon county area, the leading tenor role of Beppe in Gaetano Donizetti’s 1 act opera “Rita”, as well as the role of Oronte in G.F. Händel’s “Alcina”, both being FSU opera productions.
Though graduating in Italian at FSU, I previously was enrolled in Eastman School of Music’s Bachelor of Music vocal performance degree program for 2 1/2 years studying and participating in their operas such as W.A Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” and Ned Rorem’s “Our Town”.
My extensive voice studies have led me to win the fore mentioned roles above, sing in masterclasses for world renowned artist such as lyric baritone Thomas Hampson and living legend Cavalier baritone Sherrill Milnes, participate and place in international and domestic competitions and work with many distinguished faculty at well respected univ

Italian

I'm an Italian major and a music minor at FSU and at home for the summer. I'm a senior and have been studying the Italian language and culture for five years now. My music specialty is opera singing, which requires a fundamental understanding of the grammar and pronunciation of languages such as Italian, French and German. I also make frequent trips (2-3 times a year) to Italy in order to study with my teacher, making my Italian essentials very solid.

Voice (Music)

I've been studying the voice for 15 years, having studied with Boston University Voice Lecturer Gary Durham at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts and acclaimed American tenor Robert Swensen at the Eastman School of Music. I've also participated in masterclasses with world acclaimed baritones Thomas Hampson and Sherrill Milnes. I've also won awards at noteworthy competitions such as placing 2nd in the NATS Vocal Competition in Rochester, NY in 2015 1st at the Metro West Vocal Competition in Boston, MA in 2013, 1st at the Peter Elvins Vocal Competition in Boston, MA in 2013, Honorable Mention at the Young Arts National Vocal Competition. Currently I study with acclaimed Italian tenor and agent Antonio Lemmo privately. Recent roles that have been performed include Oronte in Florida State University's opera productions of "Alcina" by G.F. Händel and lead role Beppe in Gaetanto Donizetti's "Rita".

Patient and caring

Charles jumped in as a music coach and helped my son prepare for an audition with a very difficult, original, piece of music. He went above and beyond by helping my son understand the untranslated work, working to help my boy with difficult rhythms in the piece and finally recording a few bars so my son could sing along to practice. Bonus was hearing Charles's amazing voice.

Beginner-friendly, knowledgeable and patient vocal tutor

I liked how Charles explained concepts to me simple enough for me to understand. He was concise, understanding, and patient with me even though I had no previous training before. Would recommend even to beginners!
