My work with students over the last 18 years helps to pinpoint student needs and patiently guide them to the next level.

First, we break down what they need for the test.
Then I present the material in an easy-to-understand fashion that gets the job done.
Then I can help them develop strong study habits that help them get ready for the next section, or even the next level of math.

My students have gotten perfects on the test scores including a perfect on the ACT.
They have gotten into Exeter Philiips, dual bachelor's/MD programs, and graduate school programs.
They are top-of-the-class, valedictorians, and honors students.

But they all struggled with math.

I help them not from a place of being better than them, but because I was there too. I struggled with mathematics during my high school and college years and so I understand what it means to struggle.

Therefore, I make it as clear and simple as possible - teaching them the important basic study skills and concepts so that they can do really well in the future.

That's my goal - to see them improve and develop a strong math foundation.

If you are interested in getting some help for those end-of-the-year tests. Don't wait. I'd love to get on a call with you today and see how I can help you out.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Best regards,
Ingrid

Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Elementary math is full of fun and games. We participate in activities that will help the student learn math, but have fun at the same time. There are many real life examples that involve math and the student can develop a hands on approach to mathematics that will lay their foundation for the later years. We also work through challenge questions to teach students perseverance and problem solving strategies. These methods are "Common Core" style so the students will be well prepared. All students are encouraged to participate in math competitions that are fun and rewarding.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have a degree in mathematics and teaching mathematics. I've been teaching and tutoring math for over 10 years. In particular I have taught Algebra 1 for six years. Through my tutoring sessions I work with students to gain confidence, expertise, and long term math skills.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the most topic-packed course in High School. To make sense of it we improve our understanding in Algebra 1, bring in Geometry and Trigonometry concepts, and build off of parent functions. By getting the student caught up previewing the material before class time, I am able to help students make great gains so that students are back on track.

Geometry,

Geometry

I have taught Geometry for three years in the schools. I worked with many students one on one to tutor them in Geometry concepts. Some of the areas I focus on include: helping students to better understand the way that Algebra ties into Geometry, the visual concepts of Geometry and the definitions. My methods include helping students by asking them questions, showing them examples, outlining notes, providing additional practice problems, and encouraging them to do their best.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have prepared students for the necessary concepts in Algebra for many years. When they need extra support, I bridge the gap by reteaching PreAlgebra concepts, providing supplemental materials and making sure that they feel confident that they can proceed to the next level.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have been helping students improve in Pre-Calculus at both the college and high school level, regular and honors. We look at shortcuts, review foundational algebra, draw memory aids, and practice for success. There are many ways to help make sense of the confusion and set up success in future math courses, like Calculus.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have been trained in teaching SAT math with a national test prep company. I prepare students through test strategies and also reteach math principles.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

For the ACT Math, there are 60 questions in 60 minutes. That's fast. First off we work on building up the student's knowledge bank. We find out what the student is weak in and I provide examples and practice problems for those areas. Secondly, we work on test strategies - in other words, how to beat the test like it is a game. Student work on time management, guessing and problem solving strategies, and simple things like what to take with you and what to eat before a test.

Trigonometry

Learning Trigonometry is about finding a system that works and executing it. There is a method to the madness. We work on using a simple method to solve problems and bridge the gap back to that method even when problems change. That way there is less to memorize and more success!

Patient and extremely empathetic tutor

Ingrid has been working with the my daughter for a few months and she has done an exceptional job of bringing out her inner math abilities. The result has been an increase in confidence and timely execution of her math hw as well as testing for getting into high school. We have gotten feedback from her teachers that she is participating more in class and helping others to understand concepts in her group. Ingrid helps to round out and reinforce the concepts that are being taught in class, but also gets to the heart of where that reinforcement is needed. She also does this in a most empathetic manner which really connects with my daughter. I would recommend Ingrid for your child's math needs without equivocation. Thank you, Ingrid.

Best Tutor

Ingrid is an amazing tutor. She is patient and very clear in explaining different math processes to my son. His grades have improved and my son really likes working with her. He recently got a 93 percent on a major test he was dreading. We were all so ecstatic and my son felt really confident even though math is his least favorite subject. Thank you Ingrid

Ingrid is Amazing!

I really love how Ingrid takes her time to explain concepts and waits for feedback. The journey is not by yourself. She guides you along with ideas to make sense of the task.

Super helpful, caring tutor

Ingrid helped my son unlock and clarify some tough concepts, but also encouraged him to take breaks and pace himself with the test anxiety.

consistently great

Ingrid continues to be a great tutor. She works with my daughter to teach her not just math but study skills and how to pick up on clues in the questions that may not be very clear.

Very Personable and Helpful

Ingrid has been working with my 9th grade daughter with Algebra I. My daughter is really smart, but she has been intimidated by math. As she continues working with Ingrid, her teacher has reported that her confidence is increasing. In addition, her grade in Algebra is improving. She really likes working with Ingrid. While this was not necessarily a positive for my daughter, I really liked that Ingrid gave her some additional practice items to address problem areas. The support that Ingrid provides is invaluable to us. Due to the pandemic, my daughter only sees her teachers in-person twice a week.

as always

Ingrid really cares. She will go the extra mile to make sure my daughter understands and open for conversations. Each session my daughter feels a bit more confident and ends with a smile.

another great lesson

The best thing after tutoring is when my kid comes out if it with a smile on her face. That’s what comes after a session with Ingrid. All smiles. Thank you.
