I serve a diverse population of students including a heavy population of English Language Learners. I have a BA in psychology from Hampton University as well as an MS. Ed from Johns Hopkins Univeristy.

Every student is different which means every student learns differently which means every student should have differentiated and individualized instruction. Some students need to see the material taught directly, some students need to build understanding by prior knowledge, some students like to see what is happening using models and manipulatives. Whatever the case is, I can figure out the best way to support your students.

Phrases I hear most frequently from students about math is "math isn't my thing." or "I'm just not good at math". If you have ever said anything like this, that just means that you haven't developed a strong foundation in mathematics. My job is to help you build your foundation and fill in any gaps that you may have missed in class. As a classroom teacher, I know what to look for when it comes to student understanding. I will use a plethora of methods to help you make the connections.

Clarence is tutoring my son in math. So far we have done three sessions. He is knowledgeable and patient and most of all my son is comfortable with his teaching style. I’m looking forward to see the growth my son would make in maths

Clarence really helped me understand how to use Pythagorean Theorem as part of my final review. Clarence could have explained it to better and in an easier way that’s why i gave a 4 out of 5 stars. By the end of the session i was definitely less confused.

Clarence really helped me understand how to find the GCF but he could have taught me a little differently. He also helped me with word problems but he could have done better, he could have better with finding the GCF of all 3 or more number but just a little differently. Confusing to understand where he got the answers from and how he came up with his solution. He also could have explained to me how i could fix my own work independently.
