About Bryan

Bio

Have been coding games professionally since iPhone 1 was still supported. Some good games, some bad, but I haven't stopped tinkering in Unity3d since 2010. First I worked at some agencies then my own private consulting company, which I have run for 5 years. Back before I started coding professionally, I was a teacher. I know how to help students of different learning modalities and understand the pedagogical process.

I am not a fan of teaching from Youtube videos. There is a massive gulf between actually 'teaching' to code, and 'showing' someone code.
Recently I have enjoyed beginning students with coding via Unity3d's Bolt visual scripting system to prepare them for programming.

Why am I here?
I am on a long haul RPG project and could use some bread money. Let's support each other's endeavors!

Educational Background
*Minor degree in Secondary Education
*Taught a few summer camps for game development where everyone brought a working game home to show their friends and family. I designed the course content.
*I taught ESL in South Korea for two years, immediately after receiving my teaching degree from a state university. I have passion and good understanding of ESL methodology because:
* I created my own course content for two years. One for a private Hagwon, the other for a public middle school. I also taught adults and created my own classes during my time there.
* I like to have fun with students and believe it is important for the process!

Between my experience developing applications from scratch, teaching game development, and knowledge of pedagogy, I can help :
*Kids become inspired by coding and math skills.
*Any level of learner improve their ability with Unity3d coding, using the editor, or delving deep into a particular development skill or in coding architecture.
*I can help you build a good scaffold for a beginning learning experience as well as an advanced one.

You'll enjoy learning with me because I love teaching and making video games!

Very Knowledgeable, Great explanations

Bryan was able to meet me where I was in my Unity game dev learning process. He explained everything I wanted to ask, plus he suggested further learning resources and assets. I will definitely work with him again in the future.
