My 5 Step Approach For Successfully Learning To Play Guitar

1. Create a customized learning plan tailored to your specific goals, including: specifically what to practice, how to practice it, and how often to practice
2. Specific songs chosen according to your ability, focusing on the skills and techniques you need to work on
3. Isolated and Targeted step by step technique, tailored specifically to your current skill: for example-how to sync strumming with chord changes, using the ‘slow motion’ method to get the technique and feel correct before increasing the tempo
4. Change of mindset: letting go of negative self talk, feeling the feelings of positive self talk, ‘letting in the good.’ All directed practically towards the skills and songs you are working on
5. Patience and Good Listening with Caring and Supportive Feedback: I am very patient, and I will take the time to listen carefully to your playing, as well as to your questions and struggles with your playing. I will give you specific feedback that is supportive and directed towards what can be improved. I will help you to recognize specific areas where you are improving, and let you know about it with encouragement and positive feedback!

I teach acoustic and electric guitar for beginners. I create lessons tailored to your unique individual needs or structured based on step-by-step methods. I can teach you how to play a song by breaking it into 4 parts: 1) left hand technique 2) right hand technique 3) rhythm 4) melody.

I extensively studied music theory at the bachelors degree level, which was ENORMOUSLY helpful in my understanding of how music works in general, and with how to read music in particular. I’ve learned how to sight-read music, as well as how to sight-sing (sing simple melodies from musical notation). I understand the theory and application of keys, scales, chord structures, harmonies, etc. and can help you apply this understanding to improve your own musicality.

I am 50 years old and decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar. My wife bought me an acoustic guitar and lessons with Jordan for Christmas. I began studying with Jordan with no musical background and have learned a lot in 6 months. I am now able to play a few songs and I am enjoying playing. He is very knowledgeable and accommodating, as I wanted to play country. He is very patient and was able to transform me from a robot to a more relaxed musician. Excellent tutor

I did have my daughter (9) play with a couple of other instructors just to get a better idea of who would be a good fit. Jordan was the best fit from the beginning. He is very patient, intuitive, and a great teacher. We will continue with him in hopes of making my child a rock star. He has the online approach down very well.
