From my nine years of experience tutoring, I believe that student success is not related to ability, but gaps in strategies that students use to learn the material. My approach to tutoring is developing strategies for students to take charge of their learning. Often called metacognitive strategies, students that work with me will be able to understand their own thought processes and learn any course material.

From my nine years of experience tutoring, I believe that student success is not related to ability, but gaps in strategies that students use to learn the material. My approach to tutoring is developing strategies for students to take charge of their learning. Often called metacognitive strategies, students that work with me will be able to understand their own thought processes and learn any course material.

My nine years of tutoring experience has ranged from biology, chemistry, economics, writing, political science, math, and others. Regardless of subject, students run into the same problem in every subject: you are or your student is not prepared with the correct strategies for mastering new material.

Some examples of my approach:
- Helping students best identify gaps in their knowledge to study smarter
- Developing effective study strategies that work into busy schedules
- Creative, fun approaches to material that enable students with all learning styles

If you are not utilizing these strategies, you are probably wasting time on ineffective studying, focused more on your current ability than your potential to grow, and not performed to your expectation.

In addition to experience tutoring, I have worked as a undergraduate teaching assistant at University of Colorado at Boulder, worked for numerous organizations on youth education, and taught laboratory techniques to undergraduates. I currently work for the Markle Foundation developing training and tools to effectively teach adults.

I have done extensive reading in and know theoretical and factual basis for my field. I have great success in my courses by applying the theories and science of politics to coursework. I combine the practical knowledge of my field and know how to compile that knowledge into theoretical applications. I am organized in my essay writing techniques and help students learn the best process to write a successful political science paper that is convincing and well-written.

I have an associate's degree in biotechnology. I have taken genetics courses as well as upper division courses that cover specific concepts in genetics, such as biotechnology, microbiology, evolution, and ecology. I have done two years of population genetics research, where I applied concepts of genetics and biotechnology to my research daily. I was a TA for Bio 1 at CU Boulder, and I conducted review sections for the genetics section of the course. I have also helped a graduate student's genetics project in the ecology department, where I guided him on the genetics aspects of his research.
