I love learning. As a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, I know that opportunity and success looks an awful lot like hard work paying off. As the founding tutor for the Biology Lab and tutoring program and serving several semesters in the Nursing Program's student learning lab at Mesa State College (now Colorado Mesa University), I have had the extreme pleasure of helping thousands of students achieve their scholastic goals, realize their own potential, and take great joy in seeing their grades soar. Aside from being a mom, this is the most rewarding thing I've ever done.

No matter the subject under review, my goal for each session is to work with the student on their current lesson assignments as well as preparing for upcoming topics and constantly review for exams. I customize each session to the student's unique needs, gauging and matching the student's learning style. I excel at clarifying subjects where a student struggles, and adding challenges to keep students engaged when needed. I am comfortable working within the lessons the student receives within their coursework (homework help) as well as adding outside material to help solidify comprehension.

I know that students today have little free time and I treat the student's time as my own - precious. While I try to be as flexible as possible, I do have a strict 24-hour cancellation and no-show policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. I am ultimately and fully committed to my students' success.

I look forward to helping you achieve your goals as you complete your education and am honored that you would consider allowing me to assist you in such an important investment in your future.

American History

American History

I have always loved history and am thrilled to live in such a dynamic country with such a vivid history. Traditional history learning is about memorizing dates and names, but I know history to be the bright, enchanting story of all of us - and I am excited to help you see History come alive. With excellent scores in all of my history classes, from general Civics to AP American History and even college-level Constitutional Theory, I have been gifted with a wide and deeply grounded comprehension of where we have been. Come with me to discover where our history will take us.
Anatomy

Anatomy

I have been tutoring in Human Anatomy and Physiology since 1998, when I supplemented and supported my own classmates in high school. Since then, I have majored in human biology and sciences for two separate degrees and have assisted students from middle school through post-doctoral graduate courses in their mastery of the amazing Human Machine.
Anthropology

Anthropology

I completed 24 hours anthropology study in undergrad. I was in the top 10 in each of my 6 classes. Topics mastered were evolutionary/archaeological anthropology, civilization/societal development, comparative religion as an anthropological tool, and America as a foreign culture.
Biology

Biology

Biology has always been my favorite science and why not? Chemistry in motion, physics with a purpose, and all the gooey bits that make living things so fascinating - Biology has it all! I have been teaching biology to my peers, my juniors, and my seniors (from pre-school through post-doctoral graduates) for nearly 30 years and I can't wait to help you discover your own passion for the dynamic organisms and ecosystems that surround us all.
Botany

Botany

I have over 20 credit hours in undergraduate and graduate level course work in botany, plant anatomy, cellular biology, and genetics. I also completed a 200 hour independent study internship in wine making and viticulture. I established and operated the Biology open study lab at Mesa State College, tutoring all levels of college students.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

Homeschool mom, science nerd, inquisitive soul out to discover as much about the world as possible.
Government & Politics

Government & Politics

Want to know the scariest sentence in the English language? "Don't worry - I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Love it or hate it, our government is arguably the best version of government to spring from the mind of man - so far. I have been an avid student of citizenship, governance, and the various methods by which man has ruled his peers since I first understood that our government had something to do with me - and all of us- or roughly since about 1994. My education in politics and governance has been rigorous, with AP Civics my freshman year of high school and lead me to join the Student Government in College.
Microbiology

Microbiology

My eye has been glued to a microscope since Christmas of 1990 - I received my first Fischer-Price microscope and haven't been able to live without a microscope close at hand since! Microbiology courses in high school and college, all with grades in the 96th percentile, have only served to fan the flames. Lab protocols and tests, and interpretation of often irreconcilable results are especially fun and Bergey's Manual is my idea of a "light read".
Nursing

Nursing

I have 5000+ hours experience tutoring nursing and pre-nursing students both in person and online. I have enough understanding of nursing school procedures and requirements that while I as in my B.S. in Biology undergrad studies at Mesa State College, I was asked to work in the nursing lab to help nursing students with their courses. I was also the founding tutor for the Biology Studies tutoring lab, where I was the chief pre-nursing tutor, preparing struglling pre-nursing students for the rigors of one of the top nursing programs in the state. I have the unique ability to prepare students to become student nurses as well as work with nursing students to understand the often challenging and complex material to become effective health-care professionals by engaging the critical thinking skills that the profession requires but is often not required until entry into nursing programs nation wide.
Physiology

Physiology

I have been tutoring in Human Anatomy and Physiology since 1998, when I supplemented and supported my own classmates in high school. Since then, I have majored in human biology and sciences for two separate degrees and have assisted students from middle school through post-doctoral graduate courses in their mastery of the amazing Human Machine.
Proofreading

Proofreading

Matching written projects with rubric qualifications is hardly ever easy and a second pair or eyes can be immensely helpful. I have been reviewing projects, papers, and proposals, both scholastic and professional, for more than 20 years. All reviews and proofs include complete review, markups, and commentary as well as optional review and discussion sessions.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have given more than 100 speeches in various settings for audiences large and small, completed Toastmasters training, and taken Voice and Diction as well as Speechmaking classes in college, both with the top marks in the class. I have more than 10 years experience in visual presentation making and Powerpoint.

Wonderful, Spectacular, Knowledgeable, & a Saving Grace

Words cannot describe the overall experience I have had with Rebecca thus far. I am a senior nursing student approaching my last semester and I am confident in saying that Rebecca has changed my nursing school experience. To start she is extremely wonderful and spectacular in the ways that she supports you. Regardless of my progress or status in my classes, Rebecca offers encouraging words and support from session to session. I have never had a tutor that I felt truly, truly cared about your outcome in your life as well as school career. She is extremely knowledgeable in the information that she provides. I feel that Rebecca preps for every single session, always having charts and information readily available to send and share with my to amplify my learning experience. She knows when to add in more information and she knows when to step back and let me try and work through a thought process. When she corrects anything I say it is reassuring and informative at the same time. On top of all of that greatness, I feel that she has earthly knowledge, real world experience, as well as textbook information that she combines to make sure that you as the student see the main points as well as the overall picture. Lastly, Rebecca is a saving grace to us students and this is one of the main reasons why EVERYONE should at least try out a session with Rebecca. She sets aside family time and her personal life to always be flexible for your study sessions and even individual questions throughout the week. I started sessions with her at the beginning of my last year of nursing school when I was starting to feel tired and down on myself. With the little time I spent with her from week to week, I felt that I was always gaining a better grasp on my knowledge and owning the learning experiences that I had under my belt.

Went from failing anatomy to passing

Long story short, my professor was abruptly fired halfway through term after not teaching us anything, just reading the slides, and even the university "felt the [first] exam was improperly administered." After my first exam, I was terrified of failing and knew I needed to do something asap, so I reached out to Rebecca and started tutoring the next day. She helped me grasp the concept right away and gave me wonderful study techniques, which I applied in my own studying. My new professor is 100% better, but with his help and Rebecca's help, I finally feel that I have a chance of passing this course. My university replaced our first exam score btw and doubled it with exam two. I went from barely passing with a 76% to a 84%! I will continue to work with Rebecca till I pass this class and review with her for my final in a few weeks. I am confident with this new professor and Rebecca I will get an A on the final! I highly recommend her. Thank you all the way from California :)

Amazing tutor

Rebecca is such a great and knowledgeable tutor. I was struggling studying for my anatomy and physiology exam, but she helped me very much. We went over practice problems and she was very adaptive to my learning style. She gave me outside resources to help me , besides my textbook.

great tutor! Very knowledgeable on A&P

I’ve had quite a few sessions with Rebecca over my summer semester. This is a repeat class for me and I have average two letter grades higher on exams since I began meeting with her. She’s very descriptive and really knows her stuff! She also adds in a few jokes or funny ways to remember, which is always great when your spending extra time outside of class, good to enjoy the time your spending. She is always prompt and uses visual aids to help display information she is teaching. Highly recommend for A&P!!
