Whether you're developing a parti, creating plans, sections and elevations, or preparing for a final review, I can help you think critically, communicate clearly, and grow as a designer.

AutoCAD

I teach AutoCAD using the same drafting standards and workflows employed in professional architecture firms. Students learn essential skills including layer management, annotation, dimensioning, plotting, sheet setup, xrefs, and the creation of accurate plans, sections, elevations, and construction documents. I help students improve drawing organization, graphic standards, and workflow efficiency while developing a clear understanding of architectural documentation.

As a practicing architect with over 20 years of teaching experience, I help students develop skills in freehand sketching, perspective construction, line weight, composition, shading, rendering, and visual storytelling. Whether you're learning one-point and two-point perspective, creating architectural elevations and sections, developing concept sketches, or improving figure-ground relationships, I guide students through techniques that strengthen both technical accuracy and creative expression.

Sketchup

Students learn essential skills such as model organization, groups and components, layers (tags), scenes, section cuts, massing studies, and architectural visualization workflows used in professional practice. I help students develop accurate digital models from plans, sections, and elevations while improving their ability to communicate design intent through diagrams, perspectives, and presentation graphics.

Great Tutor!

Great, tutoring session with Hank! I was in need of a refresher when drawing Kitchens in AutoCad. Hank was able to explain and review the specifics needed when drawing out a Kitchen. He was very helpful, and overall great to work with!

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Quickly took grip of the kind of lesson needs, and while meeting me at my level, he was able to developed a very helpful flow. Shared a lot of practical information that can be applied in the field I am in. Created a positive learning environment. I really appreciate his knowledgeable guidance navigating through the plan, and helping me understand a little better the kind of information I am expected to look for. I am currently adjusting some financial needs and might have to cancel my next session, but will be looking forward for business to pick up so that I can resume my biweekly lessons with Kwong. Knowledgeable and Friendly

He helped me with a SketchUp project I was working on. I needed a little refresher since it had been a long time since I had worked with SketchUp and he was great at helping and guiding me through my difficulties. He answered the questions I had and was patient through the process. Great tutoring experience overall!
