I'm a friendly and knowledgeable instructor. Many students appreciate my passion and deeply informative and multilayered lessons. If you want to speak Japanese, and learn and experience sufficiently about Japanese culture, business, and history at the same time, contact me! I taught well over a thousand students at many American universities over 10 years, during which I received two outstanding teaching awards. I will always do my best. Success is guaranteed as long as you're committed to learning!

I have Japanese college and master's degrees in linguistics (including language instructions) and international studies. Additionally, I received a Ph.D. from Berkeley in Japanese studies. I'm a native Japanese speaker. I'm thoroughly bilingual and have a record of publications in Japanese and English. I grew up in Japan and visit there frequently. I moved to this area due to my partner's job and am currently freelance educator and translator.

Outside Japan, there is a shortage of male Japanese instructors. If you're a non-native speaker, it's important to be used to male speaking voices as much as female ones in your training. This is especially true for Japanese, because Japanese is a highly gendered language.

If you know Japanese, it is good to keep it up. Language fades away if you don't practice. Many students learned Japanese at school or by themselves in the past and they are now working with me continuing to expand their skill and experience.

Whether you're a very beginner or very advanced, I'll be delighted to teach you. We can learn in a relaxed and casual setting, either online or in person (or blending both). I maintain my tuition low for students because I do this job not for living but out of my passion to share my expertise with others. I also work on school and corporate projects. And let me know if you're preparing for a JLP Test.

I'm flexible in terms of time and happy to accommodate your interest and need. Contact me, I do reply quickly. Looking forward to hearing from you!
