My name is Corey, and I've spent 10 years working with students across grades K through 12 both in traditional educational settings and through personalized online learning. Over time, I found that many students who struggle academically, especially in math, are often bright, capable learners who simply haven't been taught in a way that connects with how they think and learn. I especially enjoy helping students who feel frustrated, discouraged, anxious, or disconnected from school rebuild confidence and realize they are far more capable than they may believe.
I have a MEd in teaching math. While math is my primary specialty, my experience extends across multiple subjects, including comprehensive test preparation, executive functioning support, and personalized academic coaching. I am a credentialed educator, curriculum developer, and learning coach, and I also hold a K–6 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Because I've worked extensively with students online across the country, I'm familiar with a variety of state standards, curricula, and learning expectations, allowing me to adapt lessons to different academic backgrounds and learning styles.
One of the most important parts of my tutoring approach is relationship-building. I work hard to create an environment where students feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I especially enjoy working with neurodivergent learners, gifted students, and students who may benefit from a more personalized or creative approach than traditional classrooms often provide.
My teaching style blends structure with creativity. I use visual explanations, real-world applications, conversation, and personalized strategies to make learning feel more approachable and meaningful instead of overwhelming. Whether I'm helping a student prepare for an exam, strengthen foundational skills, or regain confidence in school, my goal is always to help students feel capable, empowered, and successful in their learning journey.
