About Gene

Hi, my name is Dr. Gene. I am a former University Professor and College Instructor with many years of experience in teaching and private tutoring of Math and Physics to high school and college students. Over the years I have taught different engineering and scientific disciplines across the board of the entire science, math, and engineering curriculum. I have successfully tutored students with different educational backgrounds and levels of proficiency: from high school to graduate school. I approach each student individually using different teaching techniques. I am very patient and flexible in my teaching methods and approach each student with a personalized curriculum and method based on the student's specific weakness and personal need. I LOVE to teach Science and MATH and in the end to prove to my students that learning and succeeding in Math and Science even most rigorous classes can be a great fun and much easier than they initially imagine. I hold a MS degree in Physics and a PhD degree in Physics and Applied Math from the most prestigious Russian Universities and Academic institutions. I live in US almost 25 years and taught at the University of Washington and Washington State Green River College. I've tutored all levels of Math, Physics, Statistics and numerous EE undergraduate and graduate courses very successfully in private sessions, both individually and in small groups. All my HS students who have taken AP tests received the "five" grade and were admitted to the top US Universities. I can almost immediately pinpoint individual weakness and strength of each student and develop an individually crafted path to the future success in class and advanced standardized tests.
Over many years of teaching and tutoring I have developed my special approach to teaching complex concepts and express them in common sense words.
I enjoy teaching, bringing my students to the ultimate success and start to love the subject I'm tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have tutored ACT Math for many years. My students improve fast and eventually show scores in ACT above 24-27.

Algebra 2

I am an experienced Math tutor with Ph.D degree in Applied Math with many years of experience in teaching and tutoring different Math disciplines. I have tutored Algebra I to many local students and was always able to increase their interest in Math, level of confidence and correspondingly the grade, in most cases bringing them to a success at school and a perfect "A" grade

I have years of experience in practical work in biostatistics and general education in statistics and probability. I have successfully taught and tutored these subjects many times. My basic research at the University of Washington in the Department of Quantitative Sciences was for related to biostatistics subjects.

I have taught and tutored all levels of Calculus, from PreCalc through Advanced Calculus, Calc III, including Differential Equations and PDE. I guarantee 100% success in improving your grades on Midterms and Final exams and passing the class with the highest score.

Electrical Engineering

I hold an MA in Physics and PhD in Physics and Applied Math. During years 1989-1995, I was a faculty at the Electrical Engineering Department of the the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Later on I worked as a Principal Scientist in the field of Optics, Optical Communications, Laser Optics and Defense Science. I also can simplify complex concepts and have a love for teaching.

During my years as EE faculty, I have taught numerous undergraduate and graduate classes, i.e. Linear Circuits, Linear Control Systems, Theory of the Electromagnetic Field, Probability and Advanced Statistics, EE Physics, Differential Equations, etc. I can proudly claim the highest student ratings back then and now. My diverse research and teaching background allows me to teach and tutor these subjects effectively and connect them to the real world.

I enjoy tutoring geometry on a regular basis, as a part of the Math Integrated Curriculum or as a separate subject with in depth learning schools or colleges. I have prepared my students to the most rigorous tests and exams.

Linear Algebra

I have a master degree in applied mathematics and use linear algebra in my work quite often. I have taught classes in linear algebra and control systems (which rely heavily on liner algebra) many times during my career as a University Professor.

I have more than 20 years' experience of programming in MATLAB/SIMULINK and associated Toolboxes.
I use it every day in my work and when teaching different classes. I will be glad to share my experience with this exceptionally powerful and intuitive programming language with you.

Microsoft Outlook

I am using Microsoft Outlook in my everyday work, can teach the setup, all the functions and macros. I know it in-and-out.

Microsoft Windows

I am using Microsoft Windows 7 every day in my work, have trained people in them, and used all versions of MS Windows since version 3.1. I am proficient in all the subjects: networking, backup, shortcuts, etc.

Physical Science

I teach Physics and Physical Science at all levels for many years. My students always appreciate my ability to explain complex concepts and ideas in simple layman terms. I teach my students how to apply our knowledge of everyday phenomena to the textbook problems and how to dissect them in simple in comprehensible tasks. All my former students eventually succeeded in Physical Science and developed an interest for it.

I teach and tutor Physics at all levels: HS Physics, AP tests preparation, College Physics, including even advanced Physics classes. I do it more than 30 years and always with a great success and satisfaction of my students and their parents, regardless of their previous background and experience with Science and Math classes. The testimonials of my former students substantiate that my teaching methods are unique and always effective in achieving the student's and parent's goals.

I teach and tutor PreCalculus and Calculus for many years and enjoy teaching my students the basics about functions, and plotting graphs. I have mu own methods to teach this challenging subject and have them succeed in more advanced classes.

I have taught and tutored Probability and Statistics at almost any level, from Introductory, HS AP Statistic through Advanced Statistic for Engineers with invariant success. Can guarantee your success on Midterm and Final tests in call or online course.

I have many years of successful experience in training my student for Advanced Placement tests, including PSAT. I teach my students how to approach the test taking task in a most effective way and work with them on eliminating their weakness in some areas of HS Math Many students of mine got the the highest possible score and were admitted to Ivy league Universities.

I am a native Russian speaker with am excellent command of English. I am a certified translator/interpreter and have tutored students interested in Russian language many times and with great success.

SAT Math

I have plenty of experience in preparing students for their Math part of the SAT exams. All my students were able to improve their scores substantially after a few tutoring sessions.
Many achieved the perfect 800 scores and were admitted to Ivy League Colleges.
Instead of teaching only the efficient technique of test taking I work with every student on her particular weakness and strive to achieve the maximum possible score.

I have taught and tutored extensively in the subjects of probability, statistics, advanced statistics and multivariate statistics with applications to management, biostatistics, econometrics.

I help my students to organize their knowledge in trigonometry the way that doesn't require much memorization but in logical way and invariably bring them to the ultimate success on tests and higher division Math classes.

Great Tutor

I recently had tutoring from Gene for my Physics class. We had 3 sessions the week before my final and if it were not for Gene I would have failed the class. But, more importantly I wouldn't have learned what I wanted to in this class. Gene has a "no nonsense" style of tutoring. He forces you to think for yourself before providing necessary help. I found this extremely useful in helping prepare fo
