About David

I'm very passionate about 3D. I'm currently helping students in Maya, Z-Brush, Quixel and Photoshop. I've been teaching Maya and Z-Brush at a college level for 10 years. I've also worked for the Digital Media Academy and have taught Maya and Z-Brush to a wide range of learners spanning from high school students to instructors. I have experience tutoring students 1-on1 since 2006. In 2010 I won "Teacher of the Year" at my college and two years later I won a world wide award "CG and VFX instructor of the Year" by Digital Tutors.

My professional profile outside of teaching includes a wide range of real world experience. I have posed and lit characters for "The Order 1886" (Playstation 4). I was the motion capture artist for the Baltimore Orioles Bio-mechanics department. I was a character modeler / texture artist / and rigger for Gemvara. I've done modeling / lighting / rendering for several iPhone and iPad apps. I've worked on some independent games, product visualizations and have one of the top rated online 3D libraries in the world. I've been teaching Maya since 2006 but have been mastering it since 2002. I'm a generalist but prefer modeling.

Please feel free to contact me! I'm excited to help you achieve your 3D goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Professional Instructor and Problem Solver!

David is knowledgeable in Maya and everything related to the video-making world. He not only taught me how to create the effects I needed, but also led me through the process to render my video in the fastest way possible, by switching between Maya and After Effects. I am extremely grateful! Thank you so much, David!
