Bio

After 30 years of working in the office, I decided to go back to school. I finished all the math I could at Antelope Valley College and in May 2011 I received my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a Math emphasis from Grand Canyon University, all done online. A couple years later, I continued my education and in April of 2016 I received my Masters in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, in Math from Concordia University, also completed online.

While attending school online, I worked as a math tutor for a school as well as independently. For a year and a half, I taught Algebra 1 and Geometry at a local high school as a long-term substitute teacher. While this was a great experience, and I loved being in the classroom, a credentialed teacher was hired, so I found employment as a math content writer for an on-line learning platform. As much as I enjoyed the work, I much prefer the one-on-one relationship that develops between student and tutor, so I have returned to my original occupation in education, tutoring math.

I live in a district where 90% of the students are at-risk for one reason or another, so my experience with struggling students is wide. My goal is to help my students understand the math they are learning, not just get enough knowledge to pass a test. Everything they learn they will use the next day, and the next. Math doesn't have to be hard, just don't give in to your fears!

I am easy to reach and am more than willing to travel to your home or a public meeting place, whatever you prefer. I can also use the Wyzant online platform to tutor online.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I tutored Algebra I students for four years at a local charter school. Students vary in ages from 12 to 19, from middle school to high school. It is probably the math I know and enjoy the most.
Geometry,

Geometry

Geometry is my "other" favorite math -- I enjoy the visual factors involved in Geometry. But beware, there is a lot of Algebra involved in Geometry!
Algebra 2, Prealgebra, Precalculus, SAT Math

Great Tutor

Mrs. Marti was very helpful and easy to talk to. After e-mailing her my phone number, she contacted me right way making her self available. (that's what you call good service!) We will definitely be using her services again.
