Hello I am Michael! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in History from UC Santa Barbara and a California teaching credential in both Social Science and English. I currently teach 9th grade in a high school setting, where I’ve gained valuable experience working with a diverse group of students, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. My main passion is history, but I also regularly support students with reading comprehension, analytical writing, and essay development across the humanities.
Over the past two years, I’ve taught in a traditional classroom setting and also provided one-on-one support to students both in and out of school. My tutoring approach is flexible and student-centered. I aim to meet learners where they are and help them build both skills and confidence. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps, and I always adapt my methods to match each student’s learning style and pace. Whether we are working on DBQs, historical analysis, or strengthening writing structure, my goal is to help students truly understand the material rather than just memorize it.
I genuinely enjoy helping students grow and gain a deeper appreciation for the subjects I love. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to focus on individual progress and make learning meaningful and engaging. I’m excited to support students in history, English, or any area where they need a little extra guidance and encouragement.
