Throughout the past 10 years, I have taught elementary, middle, and high school in subjects ranging from reading to co-taught physics, from Spanish to co-taught algebra. I have experience with universal design for learning, curricular modifications, and I use a variety of multi-modal strategies to help students acquire concepts. I have studied several languages in order to improve my ability to reach non-native English learners.
I come from a family of engineers; although I have always loved and excelled in math, what intrigued me beyond the concepts themselves was why so many students continued to struggle to understand the concepts. Jamie is very patient and always prepared with a well established lesson plan to best address the learning needs of my sister. I highly recommend her for tutoring especially for any tutoring for children with learning difficulties.
I think when a child looks forward to working with a tutor that is the best review a tutor can get and this is exactly what happens when we have sessions with Jamie. Jamie has a well thought out plan for the tutoring session and uses the most motivating reenforcers when working with my child.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Intercultural Studies, an MEd in Special Education, and an MEd in Educational and Organizational Leadership. I have experience teaching students with Autism in public school (elementary, middle, and high school). I am familiar with discrete trial, but as it pertains to working with students with Autism, I especially hone in on helping them access the curriculum and work on appropriate socialization skills within a context.
I have been helping friends and family obtain their desired jobs for many years now by editing/revising their resumes and helping them prepare for interviews. All that I have helped were able to obtain the job that they sought. Additionally, I have worked with high school students with disabilities plan for their transition to adulthood.
I have been a resource specialist for grades 1-4 and currently work as an administrator for K-5. I am familiar with all areas of elementary curriculum and instruction, interventions, and strategies.
I can offer students learning strategies and self-advocacy supports in order to be successful with school and their subject matter.
Organization is practically my middle name. Many friends, family, and colleagues attribute my progress in academics and life to my organizational skills. I have worked with elementary through high school students who have various disabilities and I highly enjoy helping them become better students. I have attended AVID trainings in the past as well.
