Your son is hardworking and only needs to improve his S.A.T. score by 10 points to be accepted in to the college of his dreams! I know he has what it takes to reach this goal and I am happy to help any of my students reach their first choice college and/or University. I am excited to hear his newest S.A.T. score!!!

"Understands how to work with my high energy 9 year old boy"

Your son is great in mathematics and focuses well while "processing" math. He is a great reader and comprehends reading material well. He excels in grammar and is a quick learner. He engages well and benefits with breaks and ability to release energy when needed. This is allowed. Together, we make games and competitions while learning 4th grade sight words. This is also allowed as learning should be "fun" too. He engages well in learning and I try to acclimate lessons to meet student's needs to make for a healthy and safe learning environment. I look forward to working with him as he is a delightful young boy and I am confident in reaching new learning goals in his academic career.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

My experience is in Special Education for 16 years in both elementary and high school age children. I have worked at a High School in the largest department on campus: Special Education and work on a daily basis with students with ADD/ADHD. I am very cognizant of this special need and how it can hamper a student's education, but I have skills to reel them back in to "focus" on lesson assigned in a classroom setting along with one on one teaching. It can be challenging for parents but with the right teacher/tutor it is manageable for student to succeed in an educational setting. I am able to give suggestions to each student in learning how to focus better especially in a one on one teaching environment.

Elementary (K-6th)

I worked as a substitute at my kids' elementary schools K-8th grade; regular education and special needs (2 years). I am a credentialed pre-school teacher (5 years experience). I worked as Assistant Director at our church with our youth; preschool- 8th grade (7 years experience). I currently work with high school 9th-12th grade students (16 years experience). Additionally, I have taught and tutored elementary students for 22 years.

Elementary Math

I currently work with students and am teaching multiplication and division. I also teach addition and subtraction. I would rate myself an A+ in this area.

English

I teach English-collaboratively at high school level.

Grammar

I teach grammar as this in my English class as part of our curriculum during the school year. I focus on parts of speech; noun, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, etc.. Teach proper use of each part of speech and function and how to properly use in sentences and essays. We use daily exercises to enhance better sentence structure and practice grammar; subject-verb agreement, conjunctions, clause vs, sentences, etc.

Linear Algebra

I collaborative taught pre- algebra and algebra 1 and 2 for 10 years at High School level. I taught grades 9th through 12th. I taught in both Special Education and Regular Education student population.

Literature

I collaboratively teach English in High School classroom with both regular and special education students for 16 years. Our curriculum consists of literature readings and discussions. Students demonstrate comprehension both orally and in written form as well as in small groups. We utilize common core methods of teaching and gain a better understanding of a variety form of LITERATURE.

Reading

I collaboratively teach English to regular and special education students in High School English class for past 4 years. We read literature, short stories, poems along with writing paragraphs and comprehensive questions which follow reading assignments. Expository reading is read and both oral and comprehensive writing assignments follow. Additionally, I teach and tutor E.S.L. (English as second language) elementary and high school students in READING. I have been an educator for 22 years. I also tutor elementary student in reading, comprehension, and pronunciation.

SAT Reading

Currently proctor SAT exams and collaborative teach English. Twenty three years teaching experience.

SAT Writing

I collaboratively teach in our English class and as part of our curriculum during the school year we teach SAT WRITING. We are aligned with Common Core and teach multiple essays: Autobiographical Narrative, Compare and Contrast, Persuasive, Rhetorical Precis Response ESSAY WRITING.
I teach/tutor students on how to structure and outline an essay and type/edit in MLA format. I have also tutored on ON-DEMAND SAT writing. Students who have me walk away with correct sentence structure, syntax, word choice and formatting of an essay in SAT WRITING.

Special Needs

I have worked in SPECIAL EDUCATION for 16 years with High School resource/mild-moderate students. The classes have been pre-algebra and intermediate algebra and English. I have scheduled students IEP meetings and worked one on one with severely handicapped (SH) students (such as in wheelchairs).
Additionally, I worked in Special Needs/Special Education in the Elementary School District. One on one with brain injured students, autistic, and ADHD/ADD students.

Study Skills

Upon completion of this school year, I will have 23 years experience in EDUCATION. My experience ranges from teaching Preschoolers through middle school and now High School. Additionally, I proctor College Entrance Exams. This is rewarding and enriching for both myself and my students. I easily spot areas of concern from keeping an organized back pack to perfecting an essay. I give my students test taking strategies and know what teachers expect on rubrics and meet all requirements confidently. I love what I do and believe I make a difference in my student's educational journeys.

Vocabulary

I collaboratively teach this in our English class as part of our curriculum during the school year. We have weekly vocabulary tests.

Writing

Collaborative teach English and writing at a High School for 16 years. Additionally, I tutor essay writing: Autobiographical narrative, Persuasive, Compare and Contrast, Rhetorical Precis Response, etc. My students learn the mechanics and how to outline a five paragraph essay in MLA format. I teach how to spellcheck/grammar check, edit and use rubric for expository writing.
