My name is Dakota Mckee, and I am a currently enrolled student at CSU Northridge (CSUN). My goal is to get my Astrophysics B.S. in May 2027, and get into a phd program to get my doctorate in Physics. Previously, I went to community college to transfer to CSUN, and I've been home schooled for highschool and middleschool.
During my time in community college, I tutored at Gorman Learning Center. I tutored there for two school years as a tutoring facilitator, and I worked with 3-12 graders whom had special needs or conduct disorders. Typically, I work with small groups of students with similar subjects in a classroom setting; and favor one on one tutoring for those who need it. For example, I had one student who didn't work well with others, so I primarily tutored one on one with them, whereas another performed better if they were near others so I'd use group tutoring techniques.
My approach to tutoring was different for each child; but the general basis is that I take what they're trying to do, and break it down into steps. I utilize the FISH! Philosophy in my tutoring: by being present for my student, making the material fun and easy to digest, and helping their attitude towards challenges. As for subjects I covered, it has been primarily math from Elementary to Pre-calculus.
For those who're in college like me; I am senior in my program, and I've been through all the math required including Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics (Statistical Mechanics), EnM, and Differential Equations. I can break all the math down to easy to understand steps and provide additional resources to help succeed in their classes.
