Hi there! I've been editing and tutoring professionally for 8+ years, ever since I graduated from Yale (cum laude, double majoring in history and film). I also hold an MFA in screenwriting from USC. I've worked as both an independent and agency-contracted tutor, helping students of all ages: middle and high school, college, grad-level students (MBA, pre-med, pre-law, MFA), ESL/international, and even post-grad/adult learners.

Hi there! I've been editing and tutoring professionally for 8+ years, ever since I graduated from Yale (cum laude, double majoring in history and film). I also hold an MFA in screenwriting from USC. In the years since, I've helped students gain admittance to their top choice colleges and grad schools, complete scripts and passion projects, and discover new confidence in their writing and academic trajectories. I have also worked as a story editor for US filmmakers and published authors, providing professional feedback and line edits.

I can help with a variety of writing forms: admissions essays, creative writing / screenplays (my graduate field of study), research/analytical essays, and English/writing exams (AP English/History, SAT, etc). I frequently provide offline editing for students who just need quick feedback. For admissions essays, my storytelling background allows me to help students shape their personal narratives and reflect on their past experiences, which is the key to personal essays!

It's important to me that students truly understand the reasoning behind an edit, and I always prioritize the "big picture" before the small stuff (grammar). I love to use example writing, online resources, and collaborative teaching approaches. I adapt my methods to a student's needs, learning style, and age.

Within history, my focus was on American history & completed a thesis related to university history in the 1960s. In high school I received a '5' on the U.S. History AP Exam. More recently, I have also received an MFA and worked as a writing tutor/editor for 8+ years, including helping students at the middle school, high school, and college level with history courses and research papers.

I’ve had an amazing experience working with Sebastian. He’s incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, which made every session feel productive and comfortable to talk about more vulnerable topics in my application. He’s very knowledgeable about collegiate writing and creative film work and explains things in a way that’s clear and easy to understand. He is responsive and organized. He replies quickly, stays on top of everything, and is always proactive about helping me improve my writing skills and staying on track with deadlines. Thanks to his guidance, I was accepted into LMU, got into the SCAD film program with a $15,000/year scholarship for my writing and creative work, and I’m now on track with an interview at UCLA. Best Tutor Out There

I don’t usually leave reviews, but Sebastian has been incredibly helpful on my college applications. He really has a gift for both writing and teaching, and he’s great at adapting to new essays and themes I want to convey in my writing. Sometimes I’m shocked at how much he can get done in an hour given the load of information there is and the amount of questions I have. He’s also great with scheduling, replies in a very timely manner, and gives extremely valuable advice. I HIGHLY recommend scheduling a session with him!
