Qualifications for “algebra”

Algebra is one of the pillars of Math. Variables such as x and y are used represent unknown numbers until their values can be determined. Fortunately, there aren’t too many things you have to memorize in Algebra. It's mainly intuitive. Once you know the techniques, you will be amazed at how powerful they can be.

Topics in Algebra 1 include handling linear equations and inequalities, graphing, word problems, exponents and radicals, quadratic equations and factoring. Just let me know what you need help with.

Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Certification test passed with 100% score. Algebra 2 is where you build upon the foundation established in Algebra 1. Topics include linear and quadratic equations, functions and inverses, graphing and translating, exponents, radicals and logarithms. I can help you with these. So much of Math is an application of functions and a good knowledge of Algebra will serve you well and provide an excellent foundation if you go on to take Trigonometry, Precalculus and Calculus.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Today, for obvious safety reasons, fewer chemical experiments involving reactions are taught in the lab class. Much more of the work is theoretical. I make a point of bringing chemistry alive by describing what the chemicals look like and how the reactions proceed. Wherever possible I use visuals from selected textbooks. This makes such a difference for my students and is reflected in their success.

Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Prealgebra is the key stepping stone between Elementary Math and Algebra 1. I do not recommend skipping Prealgebra. It introduces important concepts and some aspects of Geometry that will be essential going forward. It is always best to take Math step by step and build a firm foundation. This way , you will enjoy the subject and it will benefit you greatly.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Best Out There

I have only written one other internet review before today, as time is limited and I don't have the inclination, unless the experience is truly a 'stand alone' experience. My son (10 y/o) came to Chris as a 4th grade student. He had begun his studies in a new school in September and then was offered enrollment in a charter school the last week of October. With these changes (teachers, curriculum), and the not so intense love of mathematics, came the "D" grade for the first trimester. That's when Chris entered our lives and within one trimester we are on the "A" team in mathematics!! What's really amazing about Chris, beyond his unquestionable and admirable knowledge of mathematics, is his ability to understand the child he is working with and quietly win them over to share in his excitement of mathematics and to recognize their own abilities to achieve the task at hand. Chris is a seasoned and knowledgeable professor who is astute in recognizing where your child's interests are and how to bridge those interests into the amazing world of mathematics. He is patient, fun, encouraging and strict all at the right times. He is able to quickly evaluate and identify any deficits or problems and give the student and their parents the direction and the road map to successfully correct those deficits. As a parent I admit that I am very discriminating with regard to the academic setting, implementation of curriculum and the instructor/teacher support that my child receives. I can say that Chris has taken my sons dislike for mathematics and turned it into understanding, respect and successful abilities. He enjoys going to his lessons with Chris and is proud when he does well and that he is already starting 5th grade math problems over the summer. If you want your child to not only do well in mathematics but also develop a love for it, then this is the tutor you should pursue. Chris is available and flexible with advice/appointments as well. He has always gotten back to me in a very timely fashion and has worked very hard to accommodate our often changing schedule. Truly, you couldn't ask for anything more. I recommend Chris 1000% to students and parents alike!

excellent session!

Chris covered an incredible amount of material in today's session and my daughter now feels confident about her math exam tomorrow. Chris reviewed the problems submitted in advance and was well prepared to teach the topics. My daughter finds his teaching methods very easy to understand and is comfortable working through problems with him. Thank you Chris!

Good Work

We worked through some problems about rational expressions and helped me with a rule I was confused about. Showed the step by step process of solving equations which helped follow the steps best suited for problems.

Great teacher and shows empathy towards student situations!

We started lessons with Chris last semester and it definitely helped to ease my daughter anxiety towards math and improved her grades. Chris is flexible with his schedule and shows interest towards student, empathetic and adopts to every situation student faces. We are again continuing lessons for this semester. Highly recommend his services.

Algebra 2 Honors

Chris was very patient and kind. He reviewed my daughter's work prior to their first session so he was able to see where she was having difficulties and making errors. My daughter felt very comfortable with Chris and is eager to continue working with him.
