It may seem strange to begin with a statistic, but I trust you will agree it's not wholly inappropriate. During the 2009-2010 school year, my 11 AP Chemistry students had a 100% pass rate with the following score distribution: Seven of them scored a 5, three scored a 4, and one scored a 3. The high scores are greater than three times the national average. What makes this even more impressive is that I only saw my students an average of 2.5 times per week (2 days one week, 3 days the next,...

I was trained as a Classicist, a Chemist, and a Mathematician. I have enjoyed tremendous success as a teacher and tutor of Mathematics, Science and Languages, but what I am proudest of is the comfort and trust that I have managed to engender among my students. My students are relaxed around me, and when they are relaxed, they can learn.

My background in Mathematics is quite deep and extensive, and Differential Equations has always held a strange fascination for me among the Mathematical sub-disciplines. Where Linear Algebra enables one to start seeing the deep connections that exist among mathematical structures themselves, Differential Equations enables one to start seeing the deep connection between mathematics and the operation of the real world. In other words, one begins to finally understand, fundamentally, why the natural world is described mathematically, and not some other way. The techniques of both Calculus and Linear Algebra are brought to bear on problems of dynamics -- that is how things move and change with respect to one another. I matriculated into the Doctoral Program in Mathematics at University of Illinois. My coursework includes the following: Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Analysis on the Real Line, Analysis in n-Space, Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra (Groups, Rings, Fields, Galois Theory), General/Algebraic Topology, Measure and Integration Theory.
