I'm Michael. A tutor of 5 years and a student in teaching for mathematics for half a year. I have enjoyed tutoring for this whole time. Most students come to me with some understanding of the subject, but not being able to apply it to the homework or want extra reassurance. When completing my engineering classes I have realized way simpler methods to understand the subjects and have regularly updated my way of tutoring. I'm very understanding and will never belittle my students. These subjects are hard and should be handled with care.
I'm excellent with drawing and writing on the whiteboard, yes even with a mouse. While I don't expect or require you to write on the whiteboard too, you are absolutely encouraged. I make sure every part is well understood and check in with you, both verbally and by checking what you are getting in the calculator or on your side. Nothing other than an internet connection and a computer is needed. But a calculator and some paper can help you greatly.
If you are interested in my help or have any questions feel free to reach out.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I passed my ACT fairly well, but got in the 95th+ percentile (2 questions wrong) in the math section. The problems are straight forward, but sometimes the wording is strange. Some may find themselves in a place where they don't know how to start. I can help get you some bearings and teach whatever you might be missing.
ACT Science

ACT Science

I love how the ACT has a science section. It tests the bridge between reading and math. Chart reading and research paper reading. It is such a treat to help a student comprehend a graph or the opinions of a scientist. They like to use real world things so knowing actual science also helps.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I completed Algebra 1 in high school while doing nearly all the homework in the few minutes available at the end of class. Since then, I have used algebra every semester. I am tutoring this to my younger brother as he is entering high school.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I took Algebra II over 8 years ago, but it is critical to all the math work that I have had since. Others in my class have issues remembering the old formulas and whether they are applicable. For me I notice the connecting quickly.
Calculus

Calculus

Calculus is my favorite subject to tutor. I have always enjoyed seeing Calculus students in need of my help. Both Calc 1, 2 (or AB and BC for highschool) I know very well. Especially with the regular refreshers while tutoring.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is a tough class. Some who are good at math find geometry to be very difficult since it requires learning and occasionally memorizing a new way of thinking. Geometry is imperative to Engineering and I continue to think about the world in terms of basic geometric principles.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I took several classes to learn Matlab and for group projects I regularly used it over my group members. It is a programming language primarily centered on math and graph creation. I used it this year to design and determine the size and optimal direction solar panels should face. Some times you end up with some code that just doesn't work for the dumbest reasons. Other times you don't know where to start.
Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

I have graduated after 5 years with a Mechanical Engineering major. Some subjects are easier for me than others so be sure to specify. I have taken all thermodynamic classes some material classes and plenty of Statics/ Dynamics/ Fluids classes. These all range in difficulty based on who teaches it too. Some professors prefer to go into detail on the underlying equations, but that might not be totally important. If you want some help on homework or someone to study with I would love to help.
Physics

Physics

Physics is very foundational in Engineering. All modern programs from temperature modeling to space craft movement to video games rely on reliable physics. Every STEM major needs to have some good understanding of physics at least to learn which branch of STEM you would prefer.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have tutored math to my younger brother several times, by running through the problems. It might seem easy to just use a calculator sometimes, but it is best to know what your calculator is doing. You might not think you will need this stuff in the future, but you will be wrong prealgebra is everywhere.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I understand how difficult precalc can be. You are thrusted into a new way of thinking with alien graphs and equations. I have helped make PreCalc less foreign, by grounding it in something familiar to the student. I have over a year of PreCalc experience.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I placed in the 97th percentile (3 questions wrong) on the math section of the SAT while the other subjects were fairly average for my school. Some problems involve knowing how to do the math while others use critical thinking to get to the answer. Not all problems are trying to trick you, but quite a few are. I think it is best to find the answer not by using the answers, but by finding it from the question itself.
Solidworks

Solidworks

I have created about 300 parts in SolidWorks. Some of which were modified dozens of times. Some people don't know where to start or don't realize specific function exist in SolidWorks. With screen share and the occasional part sharing we can solve these problems together.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry involves a lot of memorizing, looking at equations and using a calculator. None of which is that fun. Unfortunately, it is the basis of most higher level math. I use this a lot, but I regularly look up the identities.

Knowledgeable but unreliable.

I think he is knowledgeable on the topic but he blew off a meeting the night before my exam. We had met a few times before and I reached out and told him there was a topic I really needed help with for an exam. We scheduled a meeting in advance. He never showed up, he never let me know he was tied up. I kept messaging him and got no response until it was too late to schedule another tutor. It was inconsiderate and impacted my exam grade. Not happy and will never use him again.

My go to statics tutor

Michael has been a huge help in statics this semester. My only regret is not starting with him earlier. Explained things in a very understanding way. He was knowledgeable about all the topics.

Knowledgeable tutor

Michael helped go over and review topics for a test and explained the topics to reinforce the instruction from the classroom. I would recommend Michael as a tutor.
