I am a passionate and dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) educator with over a decade of experience learning and using ASL. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in ASL Linguistics and Deaf Studies from Cal State Long Beach and a certification in ASL Interpreting. I recently completed my credential program to become a certified ASL teacher and will begin teaching high school full-time in the fall. I am a passionate and dedicated American Sign Language (ASL) educator with over a decade of experience learning and using ASL. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in ASL Linguistics and Deaf Studies from Cal State Long Beach and a certification in ASL Interpreting. I recently completed my credential program to become a certified ASL teacher and will begin teaching high school full-time in the fall. My educational journey has been deeply shaped by both academic study and immersive interaction with the Deaf community, which I bring into every tutoring session.

My teaching experience includes working with students ranging from elementary school to college. I have tutored one-on-one, led small group sessions, and taught full classroom lessons. I also have years of experience as a youth mentor and volunteer leader, working with children ages 6 to 12 in both educational and supportive roles. I focus on tailoring lessons to the needs and learning styles of each student, using visual and interactive methods to ensure deep understanding—especially important in a visual language like ASL.

My tutoring sessions are engaging, personalized, and supportive. Whether students are just beginning their ASL journey or preparing for advanced classes, I help them build confidence and fluency. I emphasize both expressive and receptive skills, and I am committed to fostering an appreciation of Deaf culture as well as the language itself. I graduated the Sigh Language Interpreting Program at Golden West College in 2013, and received my certificate from GWC to interpret upon graduation. I graduated with a 3.4 grade average and was one of the top students in my class. Since graduation, I have tutored a number of students in ASL. I have worked with ages from 8-30+ years. I am currently enrolled at Orange Coast College to obtain my AA degree in Liberal Arts, I graduated high school in 2010. I have experience working with special needs children, and I have experience teaching special needs children ASL.

Great ASL tutor

Great tutor, made ASL easy to understand. Very helpful, knowledgeable and patient. She was able to meet in person with my high school son, which was very beneficial for him. She broke down ASL easily for him to understand.
