If you are looking for a tutor with mastery of the mathematics, extensive skill with online teaching, and a friendly and engaging personality, contact me today! With the right help, you can achieve your goals!!!!

I have over 20 years of tutoring experience and I can help you. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics from UCLA and have a Master's in Mathematics from CSUCI, so I am among the most qualified math tutors available. I tutor students in everything from Pre-Algebra through Calculus and Statistics. I teach the subtleties of mathematics with joy and find it greatly fulfilling when I see my students gain a greater insight into the subject's many, many intricacies. I am well aware that students learn math differently, and so I adapt my teaching style to match the needs of each student, including students diagnosed with ADHD. I pride myself on providing a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for my students. In this environment, they attain greater comprehension immediately and measurable results quickly.

One of my advantages as a tutor is my love for many things outside the world of mathematics. I do improv comedy, I enjoy archery and playing pool, I've taken several years of acting classes in Hollywood, I've had many years of martial arts training, I watch a lot of movies, and I have been fire dancing for over 10 years. I am able to bring these outside experiences into the learning space to relate and connect with my students on a deeper level.

I tutor very well online. Whether you are a student in Los Angeles, Lafayette, or London, it is important to me that your experience be as seamless as possible. To this end I have tools to help make the online experience quick, efficient, and effective.

I look forward to hearing from you. Contact me today and let's get you to math mastery.

Statistics

Statistics

I assist students by showing the students where information can generally be found and what clues they should look for. Whether their class allows the use of a graphing calculator, a scientific calculator, or simply a basic calculator, I am prepared to guide students to get the most out of their technology.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I focus on keeping the strategies simple in algebra. Many strategies cross over to several different kinds of problems. Once these patterns for strategies are learned, new problems don't seem as mysterious.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

As with all the math subjects I tutor, I've tutored Algebra 2 a lot. Having a degree in Applied Mathematics from UCLA, I have a strong grasp of the wide array of topics they introduce in Algebra 2, from higher order polynomials to matrices; from exponents to simplifying radicals. Often times, Algebra 2 can be an overwhelming subject since it introduces so many new, seemingly-unrelated topics. I work with students to show how all this work ties together.
Calculus,

Calculus

In Calculus, new concepts are introduced that require higher levels of abstract thinking. I work with students to deconstruct the more complex ideas into simpler, understandable pieces. From limits, to derivatives, to integrals, to refreshing necessary skills from earlier math, I have been working with students in this subject for years with great success. As for my educational qualifications, I have a degree from UCLA in Applied Mathematics, graduating Magna Cum Laude. This training has given me a rock-solid foundation in all the math subjects I teach.
Geometry,

Geometry

I work with the students to make sure they see how all the theorems, postulates, and corollaries tie together, making the subject less about a bunch of random facts to memorize. This makes Geometry more cohesive, understandable, enjoyable, and easy to learn.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Prealgebra introduces and expands upon a lot of concepts. Everything from exponents to variables, this information can be a bit unwieldy at first. I focus on breaking down the concepts to smaller pieces to make them easy to absorb.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Precalculus brings together several years worth of mathematical training and then adds even more. Greater mastery of rational functions and trigonometry is required, and then comes matrices and complex systems of equations. I am able to alert students of the core concepts that they need to know to succeed, making a massive heap of information more manageable and easy to understand.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

My approach with SAT math is a combination of clarification, refreshment, and saturation. The SAT's, cover a wide breadth of mathematical knowledge. I help to fill in the gaps that students have in any of the subjects. Along with reeducating students in the subjects, I strongly encourage a lot of practice with SAT questions; familiarity with the style of questions that can appear on the test will give students a great advantage when they finally approach the exam.

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

I have taught classes in ACT math and have helped my students achieve their academic goals. Similar to SAT Math, my strategy for students is about thoroughly re-familiarizing students with all the math they learned over the past several years. Typically, we will go through an ACT book of problems and do several exercises together, inspiring dozens of those "Oh yeah!" moments. After each lesson, the student gets stronger in the material, and can feel it. I have been happily tutoring for over 15 years, and so I have learned to relate mathematical concepts to a wide variety of students. As for my educational background, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA with a degree in Applied Mathematics.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is wonderfully intricate material containing a wide variety of topics such as: triangles, similar triangles right triangles, special triangles, not-so-special triangles, more triangles, other triangles, a cute triangle (as long as it's not being obtuse), an extra helping of triangles and triangle pi. (I would like to formally apologize for any injuries caused by those fantastic puns. Please let me know when there's any sine of improvement....) Trigonometry is a subject that can truly make a student go bonkers. Luckily, trigonometry is so focused on triangles, much of the information is becomes tightly interrelated. With me, students learn the value of drawing triangles. In so doing, solutions to problems become much more attainable and certain. I have been tutoring for over 15 years. As for my educational background, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics.

Calculus AP

Tyler has been an awesome find! My child said he is the best tutor, he takes his time to explain and does so in a way that is easy to understand. His schedule is open and easy to get a hold of.

Best Statistics tutor!!

I’m the type of person who has never done well in math and has gone through multiple different tutors who just weren’t helping. Then I found Tyler, he has been the only person who has been able to explain math to me and actually be able to comprehend the material. The price and everything is so worth it!! He has helped me pass my statistics class, something I could not have done on my own. Thanks for all the help!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Identified my weakness & pointed me in the correct direction.

Highly recommend Tyler to any struggling student, will be calling him again. I received my Algebra 2 mid-term grade and was disappointed by the results. I then googled tutors, found wyzant, was then connected with Tyler. Answered all my questions, despite them being all over the place. Tyler attempted to explain slopes to me one way, I replied with I don't understand and Tyler immediately has a second explanation that I understood. Perfect. Oh, and - due to weather, I changed our meeting place, which was no problem for him and he showed up right on time.

Reassuring

Only had 1 session with Tyler, but we got to work practicing for my calc class this Fall. Right away, Tyler was observing my work and offering me pointers to make the pre-calc problems easier. I shared my concerns about my weaknesses in math and Tyler reassured me about my anxieties.

Fantastic calculus tutor and even better person!

Tyler managed to review the essential material of an advanced level college calculus course in just a few hours! He is an outgoing passionate mathematician: experienced, patient, very knowledgeable and genuinely cares about your understanding. Never thought time would fly solving calculus problems! Thank you so much Tyler!

Great Stats Tutor

Tyler was able to explain statistics to me in a clear and concise way. He is a better teacher than the one I have at school. He is a really nice guy and I will use him to help me study for my AP Stats exam.

Stats Savior

Tyler came in very last minute to help me with my college level stats course. He managed to take 10 weeks of classes, condense it all over two sessions, and not only give me a more solid understanding, but also teach me new and useful techniques to getting around problems. I would easily recommend him to anyone struggling with statistics or any other math based subject. He is as kind as he is patient and ready to help!

Both Knowledgable and Fun

My daughter really enjoys doing precalculus for the hour. Certain people have a way of not only teaching the material but also showing why math is fun. Tyler is great.
