Now working as a full time tutor online, my skill set is as thorough and varied as ever. Over the years, I've enabled hundreds of students to test better, score higher, and gain confidence.

I believe in constant improvement with not only myself, but also with my students. I strive to be a better tutor each year than the one before. Additionally, I continually provide a structured and constructive learning environment for my students. Years of tutoring a wide range of math has given me insights into the vast arc of topics and concepts needed to succeed at math. I can quickly diagnose gaps in knowledge so that we spend as little wasted time as possible.

My goal is to help you or your child build confidence and find insights. I hope to hear from you!

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

A degree in math as well as 10 years of tutoring experience has given me an expertise in all varieties of algebra from your basic high school class to your advanced college algebra level. Not only have I seen just about every different possible question, but I've also mastered the sequence to the point where I can find gaps and solidify understanding.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is probably one of my most tutored subjects. After years of practice, I can explain all topics in this class in clear concise ways that won't leave the student wading in uncertainty and confusion. College level, high school level; I've seen it all. Complicated combinatorials, perplexing polynomials, sophisticated sequences, elaborate exponentials, fancy functions, convoluted conics, abstruse absolute values, intricate inequalities, problematic parabolas, and questionable quadratics; I can help you master them.
Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus is a notorious class, but I've helped all types of students find success over the years. Whether it's building fundamentals, drawing visual models, or helping break down the problem solving process, I can help you master every part of calculus!
Geometry,

Geometry

Whether it's common core, Integrated Math 2, standard, or honors, I've helped students find success in all topics and levels of Geometry. Geometry in particular is SO visual, so I'll be sure to use many images, drawings, and models to help bring the concepts to life and give the math meaning.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I've been teaching all levels of math for over 15 years. Everything from public school, private school, home school, testing, and more
Precalculus,

Precalculus

Precalculus, in my experience, is one of the most frustrating classes for high school students. Every teacher has different expectations, and it can often feel like a student is overwhelmed and underprepared for this difficult class. But over the years, I've helped hundreds of students make sense of these challenging concepts and prepare them for tests, calculus, college and beyond!

Awesome tutor!

My son enjoys his lessons with James. He really likes how he puts the work up on the computer screen. He said it was like a utube video. In just three lessons, my son finally received his first A on a quiz.

Great Tutor

I really enjoyed my session with James. His methods were very helpful in getting me to understand calculus limit problems and proofs.

Exactly the tutor for how I learn

Most tutors just show you the solution and tell you how to do things, but James guides you through the problems. It’s known that the best way to learn is to see one, do one, teach one. James checks for an understanding and really does a great job at explaining concepts. I had forgotten/not known how to do some basic math things, and there wasn’t any judgement throughout the explanation. Highly recommend James, just don’t book all his sessions haha, I need him too!

Great calc tutor!

James is an excellent calculus tutor. He emphasizes conceptual learning, which gives you a deeper understanding of the material and makes you far less likely to forget it. Mr. James is patient and quick to correct mistakes before they become bad habits. He always shows up prepared and knows not only the material, but also the types of questions likely to be asked on tests. Having seen him numerous times I can say he is worth much more than he charges. You will not regret hiring him.
