My name is Chip and I enjoy encouraging students! I have several degrees and skill sets that lend themselves to helping in different areas. I have a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry (I listed it as “other” because it is pretty unusual). Those degrees mean that along the way I have learned about some interesting things; Greek and Hebrew languages, extensive classes in areas like history, archaeology, religion, and archaeology classes. I studied the Bible with both of those degrees and the Bible speaks to some of the great areas of life and wisdom. In mid-career, I worked as a pastor to pastors in Latin America, so I needed to learn Spanish at a high level - I read and speak Spanish at a university level. For these reasons, I tutor in the areas of Bible Study, religion, history, Spanish, and ESL.
Speaking of university, I am a faculty member at a university where I have been named the outstanding faculty member of my college several times and was recently named the college’s outstanding faculty member for helping students become successful in their careers. In the wake of COVID, I decided to expand my work and do tutoring on a more one-on-one basis because, frankly, I think we all need a little more attention! For the past few years, I have been teaching English as a Second Language through video meetings with individuals in addition to helping university students, ministers, and doctoral students in different areas of study.
I am more comfortable with 18-22-year-olds and adults than I am with high school students, but I am open to working with them.
