SUNY Stony Brook (Physics and Economics)
Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (Graduate Coursework)
Hello, my name is Dr. Kelly, and I am well versed in mathematics, physics, and the medical sciences. I got my undergraduate degrees in physics and economics and my doctor of naturopathic medicine degree from SCNM. I currently teach anatomy and physiology.
I believe that a good tutor gets to know their student and understands what THEIR problems are and attends to them instead of just trying to hammer all the concepts into their head. In my experience, even the most abstract mathematical or scientific concepts can be learned by anyone, you just need to understand what they are doing and why. I think my two main strengths as a tutor are my ability to impart this understanding using visual aids and analogies, and my ability to break down complex problems to simple and easy ones. I am great at organizing problems in a way that makes them become easy, and I can teach you how to do it too. Please contact me if you need help understanding your math or science class! I'm a sophomore at ASU who was struggling to pass any of my tests for Physics 111. I only had two sessions with Dr. Kelly and received an 100% on my recent test! I went from completely failing all of my tests to acing one in just two sessions. I liked the way he broke down a simple process to help me approach each problem the same way so I didn't feel the anxiety of approaching a new problem! Even though I had never previously taken physics courses, he was able to relate the problems to situations that made sense to me while also giving me easy tips and tricks to remember for the future. He was able to visually and conceptually explain problems and tailored his tutoring to the skill set that I had. I am very happy and would definitely recommend giving him a try!
Dr. Kelly was very knowledgeable and patient. His approach to solving physics problems and understanding physics concepts was very helpful! I would highly recommend him.
I've never been able to find someone who truly cared, was skilled enough to identify challenges and provided tools to help my son overcome his tough situation with Honors Algebra 3/4. Much of it was self doubt and confidence - elements my son's teachers simply did not care about or want to touch. I am so thankful that I made the right investment with Dr. Kelly and Wyzant. My son walked out of session last night with a smile on his face and said, "Mom, I think I might ace the final"!!!!! From the mouth of a young man who has a failing grade currently. I have never heard those words. I was so thrilled with this blessing - not even about the grade. It's everything else. I will continue to invest in Dr. Kelly for my family and I strongly encourage other families to learn from this - you get what you pay for. Your education is on the line and that's worth trusting Dr. Kelly!
I was struggling with anatomy and physiology II and Kelly helped explain the topics in a way that made sense. I had to do well on the final in order to do well in the class, Kelly went over the topics that he thought were important. If it wasn't for Kelly I would not have passed my class. He is very reliable and also accommodates to your schedule. If you're looking for a tutor in the Tempe area, pick Kelly! You won't regret it!
Kelly is the reason I passed my physics class. I had never taken physics before and I didn't have the best teacher. Kelly took the time to go over every lesson and re teach me the material in a way that I understood. He was great at explaining the step by step process of solving equations and explaining concepts using real life examples for better comprehension. I have a difficult schedule to work around and he made the time to meet with me every week. I would recommend him to any of my friends and family.
I am learning a lot, my homework is easier every day, and am making great progress in the class. Thanks!
Kelly, We are so grateful for you! She got a B on her test Wed!!! Yippeee! Their might be hope now!! Thanks so much for helping her, she cannot do it without you!
He is very, very helpful! Had a great first session and looking forward to more.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took anatomy in undergraduate school, and in medical school I completed a total of 30 credit hours in anatomy. During my final two years I was an anatomy TA, including one year as lead TA. I am now an anatomy professor at my Alma mater. My expertise is condensing the information and helping my students understand what it all means and why it is important.
I have taken over 20 credit hours of nutrition in medical school, so I am very qualified to tutor in nutrition.
I have been tutoring students in physics for over ten years. I got my BS in Physics from SUNY Stonybrook, which included time as a TA in the helproom. I was also inducted into the National Physics Honors Society, Sigma Pi Sigma, for my academic performance. I make Physics problems easy to understand and to solve.
I took physiology in undergraduate school and then again in medical school. When I took pathophysiology, the study of disease physiology, it reinforced my knowledge even more. Overall I took 15 credits hours of physiology and 12 credit hours in pathophysiology while in medical school. My expertise is condensing the information and helping my students understand what it all means and why it is important.
I have given many speeches and am a member of Toastmasters, a national public speaking group. I am also a teacher, so basically I spend a lot of time in front of groups. I will teach you how to incorporate tools of effective public speaking, such as using vocal variety, appropriate gestures, and story telling. More importantly, I will help you communicate your message in a way that is not just technically correct, but impactful and inspiring.
