Qualifications for “public speaking”

I have given many speeches and am a member of Toastmasters, a national public speaking group. I am also a teacher, so basically I spend a lot of time in front of groups. I will teach you how to incorporate tools of effective public speaking, such as using vocal variety, appropriate gestures, and story telling. More importantly, I will help you communicate your message in a way that is not just technically correct, but impactful and inspiring.

I believe that a good tutor gets to know their student and understands what THEIR problems are and attends to them instead of just trying to hammer all the concepts into their head. In my experience, even the most abstract mathematical or scientific concepts can be learned by anyone, you just need to understand what they are doing and why. I think my two main strengths as a tutor are my ability to impart this understanding using visual aids and analogies, and my ability to break down complex problems to simple and easy ones. I am great at organizing problems in a way that makes them become easy, and I can teach you how to do it too. Please contact me if you need help understanding your math or science class!

In my many years studying math, I have found that mathematics is just a foreign language. No wonder so many students feel completely lost - they don't understand the language! Imagine taking a class on a subject you love but in a language you don't speak. Would you do well? Would you have fun? I doubt it! I'll help you understand math, what you're doing and why, what the equations are saying, etc. When students start to understand the language, they sometimes realize they're actually not bad at math. Sometimes.... they even start to enjoy math.

I have been tutoring students in physics for over 15 years. I got my BS in Physics from SUNY Stonybrook, which included time as a TA in the helproom. I was also inducted into the National Physics Honors Society, Sigma Pi Sigma, for my academic performance. I make Physics problems easy to understand and to solve.

Dr. Kelly is an amazing tutor!

I'm a sophomore at ASU who was struggling to pass any of my tests for Physics 111. I only had two sessions with Dr. Kelly and received an 100% on my recent test! I went from completely failing all of my tests to acing one in just two sessions. I liked the way he broke down a simple process to help me approach each problem the same way so I didn't feel the anxiety of approaching a new problem! Even though I had never previously taken physics courses, he was able to relate the problems to situations that made sense to me while also giving me easy tips and tricks to remember for the future. He was able to visually and conceptually explain problems and tailored his tutoring to the skill set that I had. I am very happy and would definitely recommend giving him a try!

Calm and helpful

Kelly is good at teaching and patient with me. He arrives on time and is very calm, clear in his explanations. He has given me some techniques to remember various muscles, nerves and bones.

Excellent Physics Tutor

Dr Kelly has been helping with my undergraduate Physics 1 and Physics 2 classes. His deep understanding of the concepts and ability to navigate through the challenging material have been instrumental in my academic success. Dr. Kelly's guidance has not only clarified complex topics but has also significantly contributed to my overall comprehension of the subjects. I definitely recommend Dr. Kelly as a physics tutor for anyone seeking dedicated and effective support in their studies.

Fantastic help!

Another fantastic session! One thing I may have not mentioned is that Kelly is also very good at giving you a momentum push when you get stuck trying to figure out a problem and then you have a better chance of getting your train of thought moving along.

Fantastic help!

Kelly’s reputation as the man with the “one-size-fits-all” approach is every bit as deserved as you think. He really is a master of breaking down each problem, no matter it’s conceptual origin, and simplifying it to a process that’s fairly easy to pick up on and follow through with very quickly. This is no bot or fake review here. This is 100% genuine honesty of observing a man’s talent.

Extremely knowledgeable and patient tutor

My son needed help with both pre-calculus and sports medicine. Kelly has a great background and experience and was able to make my son feel comfortable with his school content. He feels ready for his upcoming exams.

Fantastic help!

This was the most amount of progress I’ve felt I’ve made so far. It was entirely helpful simply because it was a nice guiding track to fix where I was going wrong.

Patient, clear, helped the topic be much less overwhelming

Dr. Kelly after he has been tutoring my daughter in High school Physics for the last six months. Her grades went from consistently in the 60s to now 90-100 on quizzes. Her confidence greatly improved, and she raises her hand to answer questions in class. Dr. Kelly has done extra work with her to prepare for semester finals and has been flexible as school events prevent present conflicts with their usual scheduling. My daughter highly recommends him.

Amazing tutor. I would recommend to anyone!

I am a PA student and started pathophysiology. I was worried about an upcoming exam. Kelly was so helpful and a great teacher. He reviewed my content before our session and was prepared and able to break everything down to comprehensive terms and analogies. I am a visual learner and we drew our pictures. I will be returning for more help weekly to make sure I don’t fall behind in my class!

Approachable and patient tutor

Kelly worked with my junior year daughter on AP Physics review and pre calculus. He clearly explained concepts and helped to clarify and reinforce in school learning. Lily enjoyed working with Kelly and I’m sure she’ll be back in touch in senior year for more support.
