I’m a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist with over 15 years of experience helping students who struggle with reading, writing, and executive function. I specialize in working with students who haven’t responded to traditional instruction and need an individualized, evidence-based approach. My work supports learners with dyslexia, ADHD, dysgraphia, autism, and other language-based learning differences.

My instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading and includes UFLI, Orton-Gillingham, phonological awareness training, and morphology-based decoding. I also provide private dyslexia evaluations and help families track reading progress through diagnostic tutoring. Whether your child needs support with decoding, spelling, fluency, comprehension, or confidence, I build a plan based on their learning profile and goals.

I run Virtual Milestone Academy, serving families across Arkansas and nationwide via teletherapy. Many families reach out when they feel their child is bright but still behind. I also guide parents through IEPs, 504 plans, and Arkansas Act 1039 support. My goal is always to make sure students feel capable and make real academic gains. I’d love to connect and help you move forward.

ADHD

ADHD

My understanding and experience with ADHD goes beyond my professional scope and into my personal life. I have not only learned how ADHD impacts learning, but also everyday life. I have studied many of Dr David Nowell’s and Cindy Goldrich’s work with ADHD. I understand had ADHD impacts executive functioning, processing speed, working memory, inhibiting, planning, choosing, and prioritizing. I have experienced great success with my student’s with ADHD by further understanding their processing patterns, behavior patterns, and interest patterns. I understand how both kinesthetic and multimodal learning opportunities with combined systematic organization empowers learners to also better understand how they learn best. I am familiar with helpful accommodations for students with ADHD and how to shift in and out of modification/accommodations as needed. My goal for all of my students is intrinsic motivation; I understand how my children are often waiting for moments to pass; I aim to help my students form positive moments and memories to instill passion and confidence in their educational experience. I have experienced that once my student’s ADHD are able to feel in control of their education that reluctance subsides and evidence of intrinsic motivation begins.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Teaching students with Autism is part of a typical day for me. I am comfortable and experienced with both teaching students with Autism in person and virtually. I understand the many challenges that this presents my students. As an SLP, I understand how to integrate the just right level of language and how to use both my language and my prosody to communicate best for each individual. I understand how sensory processing often times interacts with auditory processing and working memory. I strive to empower my students and their parents to better understand how to integrate all of these components so that the student can retain and understand new knowledge. I understand how to use visual, auditory, and how to cue tactile cues for learning. I have tested many students with Autism for social and pragmatic language delays and I understand how this impacts our tutoring sessions. Furthermore, I understand the varying level of severity and complexities with this diagnosis and how to adjust my teaching style to best suite each individual.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

I have 12+ years’ experience working with children who are struggling readers. I have completed continuing education units in the areas of language and literacy throughout my career. I have completed many evaluation reports participating in the diagnosis of dyslexia. I understand that a student with dyslexia scores high on many areas of language, but low in phonics and comprehension. The students also often times struggle with memory and auditory processing. I have also attended IEP meetings for dyslexia and participated in writing accommodation for dyslexia. I LOVE teaching right brain learners because these students are right brain learners. As a trained SLP, I map a child's language as I am speaking with them, I understand their linguistic construct and how to adjust my style to individualize my tutoring sessions. I understand the power of confidence, attention, and teaching to a child's strengths. I don not believe I am a 'typical' dyslexia tutor, but I have never met a child that I have not been able to teach. I have studied the common dyslexia programs including Orthon-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, and All about Reading. I use snap words, lively letters, and secret stories materials. I am trained in kinesthetic learning and sensory based learning. I love language based tutoring , I love literacy, and I love right brain thinking!

Engaging, Astute and Fun Tutor

Our three kids (ages 7, 7 and 5) felt a strong connection with Megan from their very first meeting. She worked quickly to understand each of their varying learning styles and utilizes games and fun tools to make learning fun and keep them engaged. They look forward to their sessions and we as parents appreciate the thorough summaries she provides after each along with techniques and information we can use at home to continue their learning.

Goes above and beyond!

We are so thrilled to have found Megan. Our son has a complex profile and we really needed someone who would want to learn more about our son and his individual needs. We needed someone who would want to figure out what would help our son best and what he truly needed. Well, we found that with Megan. We feel so blessed to have her on our son's team through this journey. She has researched the different needs of my son, she has been very thoughtful about what would help him best and she really thinks about some "outside the box" ideas that would benefit him. She has also communicated with us every step of the way. I couldn't be happier and I would highly highly recommend Megan to anyone. Oh and my son adores her! Which says a lot when you have a boy who would love nothing more than to avoid anything having to do with "school".

Amazing tutor

My 7 seven year old daughter is on the spectrum and struggles with reading and paying attention / staying engaged in classes. Megan enters her world and finds ways to catch her attention while also thinking about how J uniquely learns and processes. She's been tutoring for a few weeks and I'm so impressed.

Great start

Our son is very capricious and it’s very hard to get him engaged in discussion during lessons but Mrs. Megan has found a way to make him happy and exited during the lesson. She also came with a good plan on how to keep him practice the homework. Great teacher...
