My educational career started five years ago as an academic tutor and strategist for the University of Mississippi's Athletics Department. After completing my Chemistry degree and Biology and English minors I relocated to San Antonio, Texas with Teach for America. I earned my Teaching Certification for the State of Texas specializing in 7-12 Science. I transitioned to becoming a Full Time Private Tutor in November 2015 and have loved every session. Last year, I taught Biology at the Undergraduate level and conducted weekly labs for my students. Additionally, I substituted at a fantastic Catholic School teaching Math and Science for grades 3-8. I recently moved to DC and am an 8th grade Science teacher at a local charter school.

I believe in fully supporting my student's and client's pursuit of academic excellence so I offer free phone consults in-between lessons. I do mini phone sessions, homework checks, FaceTime problem examples and more with all of my clients who request it. I encourage my students to always ask questions and seek help from their resources.

In addition, I offer many types of support to my students. I have offered counsel for families new to the IEP process (Individualized Education Plan for students with learning disabilities). Commonly I will evaluate the student's needs and performance and offer tailored suggestions of what accommodations will make the largest impact in the classroom. I have also completed comprehensive online grade checks and instructor correspondence, Teacher-Student-Tutor conferences, lead organizational strategies to help clean out backpacks and lockers, and taught study skills and time management. I build relationships quickly and support my students in all of their endeavors. I attend their horse shows, play performances, sporting events and any other activities they have. My students know that I care deeply for their success in school and life.

With my teaching and highly engaging lessons, my students have achieved incredible quantitative gains and notable accomplishments. My seventh graders scored the highest on STAAR preparatory testing three quarters in a row. This is a considerable accomplishment; it means out of all of the schools in my district, and all of the students and teachers, my scholars were the best prepared for their state exams.

I look forward to you to becoming one of my amazing scholars, as well! We will work together to elevate your academic success and build confidence in the classroom, an accomplishment with lasting effects.

My previous Accomplishments include being a Rising Star Instructor of San Antonio Independent School District, a Teach for America Corps Member. I have a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Minor in Biology and English. I taught Biology Lab at the Collegiate Level and was an Ole Miss Athletics Tutor - Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English. I was a 4th and 6th Grade Science Instructor for Homeschool Group. I taught Financial Literacy and Personal Finance to High School Seniors. My ACT Score was 31 total, (English 32, Math 32, Reading 31, Science 30).

Algebra 1, Geometry and Test Prep

Keely has really clued into the specific areas my daughter has needed to work on. She's kind and patient, but knows how to push and challenge her just the right amount in order to help build her confidence in math.

Thonya, 8 lessons with Keely

Keely is magic

Keely has an incredible way with my daughter who looks forward to her sessions with her! She knows the content, presents it in a clear manner, and is encouraging and supportive. We are really appreciative of Keely.

Katharine, 8 lessons with Keely

Very relatable and knowledgeable!

Keely did great with my daughter and made her understand the material better. She now feels confident with her Algebra. We would use Keely again in a second. She did a great summary at the end to recap the lesson for my daughter and me so I knew what they went over.

Jamie, 1 lesson with Keely

An excellent teacher and a pleasure to work with!!!

We have been working with Keely for two months. In that time, she has blown me away time and again with her level of professionalism, her dedication to her students, her kindness, her organization, and most importantly, her gift for teaching. It takes a special person with a real gift and love of her craft to be able to intuitively grasp a student's strengths and weaknesses the way Keely does. After a very thorough and spot-on assessment, she employs a variety of strategies to help her students really understand the subject matter. Because of Keely, my teenager has gained so much confidence and self assurance, not just in math, but across the board. She has become an indispensable part of our lives and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the future.

Murey, 23 lessons with Keely

Great tutor

Keely did a great job quickly assessing my kids strengths and weaknesses. Very detailed and organized. We are off to a great start.

Gene, 45 lessons with Keely

Great motivator

So far, Keely taught my 11 yr old once and evaluated her perfectly. I did not have to tell her the weaknesses and she was able to evaluate her with sample tests. My daughter likes her so much, she wanted to see her again for another hour and a half.

Carol, 6 lessons with Keely

Excellent tutor and great test taking tips

Keely was very patient and knowledgeable. She helped prepare my daughter for finals and gave her tips for test taking and overcoming test anxiety. Keely is very disciplined and structured and gets the student to think for themselves. Highly recommend Keely!

Lynette, 3 lessons with Keely

Really helped me

Keely has really helped me improve in my Pre-AP Chemistry class by teaching me unique and helpful strategies to get me through the tough topics of chemistry.

Jennifer, 14 lessons with Keely

Fantastic results

We hired Keely about 3 weeks ago and we've been very happy with her teaching style, proficiency, and most importantly my daughter's grades. She received 99 on her last quiz and feels very confident going into her next exam.

Darina, 11 lessons with Keely

An Amazing Tutor with great Passion for Teaching!

It is our pleasure to write this review for Keely. She has been instrumental in helping our teenage high-schooler get thru both Pre-Ap Algebra 2 and Chemistry. Both of these classes are a major challenge for our son (and most high schoolers for that matter)and unfortunately his parents can provide little to no help in explaining these complex ideas to him. Thus we had to call in the cavalry for help and her name is Keely! Keely is incredibly organized and punctual in her lessons each week with our son. She then provides us with a debrief after each lesson outlining what was covered and what needs to be worked on before the next lesson. he also provides great examples and shortcuts to use for better understanding of these complex subjects for our son. Needless to say, we'll be employing Keely for our son's needs, when necessary, to help him achieve success in High School and beyond.
