Executive Functioning Student in Dallas, TX 75209 16.8 mi
We live in Dallas and are looking for an executive functioning and self-advocacy coach for my 9-year-old son. Academically, he is highly gifted, so he does not need standard school tutoring. Instead, we want to target specific social-emotional and communication skills.
While he is bright, confident, and articulate, his main hurdle is translating internal frustration or boundaries into objective communication. There have been occasions when he experienced peer conflict and teasing, and he reacted in a manner that was not constructive. He also did not reach out to teachers or explained 'what,' 'why,' and context of his perspective. Because he didn’t state his issues clearly, authority figures on those occasions have misinterpret his reactions.
Additionally, this fall we would apply to another private school (the most exclusive in Dallas) as the campus of his current school will move and will be far from our house. We also want these sessions to help prepare him for admissions interview and observation (where the school observes students in a group). We want to use your sessions to:
(1) Run mock interviews to practice answering behavioral questions calmly and articulately.
(2) Use puzzles as a "sandbox" to intentionally trigger mild frustration, coaching him in real-time on how to receive feedback and state his needs calmly.
