To make matters worse I chose the violin for him so that he can learn an instrument that would make him feel unique. I interviewed many teachers - many! I even tried one with no success. Then I figured to give Ilona a try. Remember, my child has never touched a violin before and in just his first lesson he learned how to hold the violin, the names of the strings, learned the quarter and half notes, learned the basics of how to hold the bow, and the parts that make up the violin.

David plunged right in to teach me, and adult beginner, the basics of playing the violin. He included guidance on holding the violin and bow, the mechanics of bowing, and had me playing some simple patterns on the violin. He even helped me fix a problem I had with my bow not tightening properly. He obviously is very well versed in techniques of teaching the violin.

I had my first lesson with Rem and was really impressed with the depth of his mastership of violin, and pedagogical experience. I liked the way how tactful he was by providing his comments. He also demonstrated the excerpts from various pieces by playing them on his violin and on the piano, and they helped me to better understand his directions. As a violin student, I am very encouraged and have feeling I can quickly improve my violin skills with Rem as a tutor.
