About Anna:

Hi! I'm a friendly, caring tutor with a low-key, laid-back style. I'm patient, responsible and won't let you down.

I graduated from Brandeis University with a double major in Spanish and history. I'm a certified high school Spanish teacher, and am currently pursuing an MA in Spanish literature at Loyola University. I've studied abroad in Cuernavaca, Mexico and Madrid.

In addition to knowing Spanish, I spent a year after college teaching adult education and GED preparation through Americorps. Some of my students were ESL as well. I enjoyed this experience very much.

In terms of test prep, I have tutored and taught ACT preparation for the Huntington Learning Center in Skokie. I am familiar with and strong in every area of the test, especially English and math.

I'm currently a teacher assistant at Highland Park High School working with special needs students and English language learners. I believe that knowing a language other than English is an asset, and if you have a special need I will treat you like the valuable person you are.

Thanks for looking at my profile, and have a great day.

More On Anna's Subjects:

  • ACT

I scored a 33 on the ACT in high school. The summer after college, I taught two group ACT classes for Kaplan; and recently, I have tutored Huntington students in preparation for the ACT as well. I am comfortable with all the sections of the test.

  • ESL/ESOL

I have worked with ESL students of various ages. In my current job, I work individually with several Mexican immigrant students learning English. While studying abroad in Mexico, I tutored a six-year-old child in English. I also volunteered at Brandeis with a middle school English language learner from Russia, and encountered an adult ESL student from Poland at Association House.

  • GED

As an Americorps volunteer, I taught adult students in GED preparation at Association House of Chicago. The students there were at a wide range of levels, from a non-reader to those at a high school level. I taught all GED subjects.

  • special needs

I am currently working with special needs students at Highland Park High School. I'm a teacher assistant in a program within the school of about 25 students, many of whom have autism, learning disabilities, or Down Syndrome. Whatever each one's particular situation and level of functioning may be, I have really enjoyed working with them and helping them succeed. I am comfortable helping students of various ability levels in all the basic academic subjects.

Student Feedback:

  • Excellent

Anna has been very helpful to my daughter. She is patient and very good a honing in on helping her with her weaknesses. She is also a real confidence builder!
