Hi prospective students! I have come to WyzAnt because I enjoy helping students of all ages realize they can master whatever they find difficult. I tutored remedial reading and mathematics for elementary students for the Shawnee Mission School District for seven years, and I also did private tutoring in mathematics for students in elementary school through college for about five years. My bachelor's degree is in elementary education with emphases in mathematics, English, social studies, and science. I was a substitute teacher for seven years and an adjunct instructor (psychology) for two years at the university graduate level, and my current interest is still in teaching. My Master's degree is in educational psychology, and I am currently a doctoral candidate in the same field.
Having been a university student over the last three-and-a-half decades in both traditional and online universities, I understand the challenges that students have today, whether they are children or adults. Even now, I continue to answer questions my classmates have by phone and email. When I see students who have great anxiety about learning specific subjects, my goal is to help them lower that anxiety by boosting their self-confidence and helping them obtain the skills they want and need. I enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds. If you would like some help with mathematics, English, study skills, reducing test anxiety, statistics, research design, or psychology, I would certainly be happy to lend a hand!
