About
Jason
I have just finished my freshman year at Canisius College. I am majoring in mathematics and I have finished all levels of calculus. I have also taken differential equations, physics, and a course on logic, set theory, and proofs. My cumulative gpa thus far is a 3.60.
I worked in the math tutoring center for one semester and am returning in the fall. I really enjoyed helping students understand all sorts of math and am even considering becoming a teacher in the future.
With the students, I try to simplify the problem, especially word problems, and relate the ideas to something that is easier for them to understand. I have gotten alot of positive feedback from many students, some have even raised their grade by a whole letter.

Jason's Subjects
-
discrete math
As a college math major one year ahead in math credits, I just completed Bridge to Abstract Mathematics with an A in the Spring of '09. This course, being renamed Logic, Set Theory, and Proofs, at Canisius, was just that, a course on logic, set theory, and proofs. I am able to tutor Discrete Math because the ideas in this course are the basic ideas of Bridge. Having recently completed Bridge, I'd have no problem with tutoring Discrete Math.
-
differential equations
I have been working with differential equations since taking AP Calculus in high school. They appear in Physics and Calculus, both of which I have taken recently, as well as Differential Equations itself. Having just completed Diff EQ, I know how difficult the equations become and how hard it is to understand some of the ideas. Throughout the semester, I helped the majority of the class with the work, and having walked out with an A, I feel more than capable of tutoring Differential Equations, again.
