I am a dedicated and hard-working literature, writing, and ESL tutor. I started to instruct others as a writing and linguistics tutor while still studying for my bachelor's degree at Swarthmore College, where I double majored in English and linguistics. While working at a publishing company in New York City for the next three years, I continued to work as a volunteer tutor, assisting middle school students at the Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center. I then went back to school to get a Masters degree in English from Yale, honing my skills at analyzing literature and writing. I have now just returned from teaching ESL for a year in China. I received a month of training prior to the start of the school year. Following the training, I started the job: I taught eighteen classes a week of Junior 1 and Junior 2 students, eleven to fourteen years old. In addition to honing my ESL teaching abilities, during the course of this year I also spent time tutoring Chinese students from the age of nine to eighteen in subjects varying from ESL to essay writing. I am an experienced and devoted tutor, and I'm sure that I'll be able to help you or your child excel!
