I accumulated extensive experience as both a tutor and teaching assistant (TA) at both the undergraduate and graduate student levels while pursuing my Bachelor's and Doctorate degrees at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and Northern Illinois University (NIU), respectively.
I was an intermittent tutor for undergraduate chemistry major students on a faculty referral basis at both schools. I was a teaching assistant for two semesters apiece at both institutions. At IIT my TA responsibilities included assisting the students with operation of the analytical instruments and interpretation of the resulting spectra or chromatographs, as well as interpreting their wet chemical data. In a similar role at NIU, I had those duties, plus additional responsibilities that included preparing lectures, securing special glassware, maintaining reagents and grading notebooks.
I feel that my strong interpersonal skills, plus familiarity with an educational environment will be an asset as a tutor. Future students should know that I enjoy one-on-one instruction and teaching to small groups. But my greatest strength is being a terrific listener and I look forward to sharing this asset with others.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
Ralph
