Teaching and tutoring have been passions of mine for many years now in a variety of contexts that include teaching high school biology full-time in an inner-city school, running a tutoring program for a non-profit, conducting SAT classes for Princeton Review, tutoring Manhattan students in their homes, and, in the fall of this year, teaching college English at Johns Hopkins. I have always made teaching a part of my life, regardless of my full-time occupation, because I think working with kids is one of best ways to keep yourself young at heart, and because watching a student's understanding and confidence grow is a fantastically rewarding experience. My background is in science and scientific research, but my interests are broad (I am switching careers from research to journalism). I feel confident teaching just about anything. As a Harvard graduate with near-perfect scores on standardized tests, I look forward to working with you to help your students achieve their goals.
