About John

The Greek language is a very interesting language to learn. I enjoy teaching the Greek language. I am a fluent Greek speaker because I was born and raised in Greece. I lived in Greece for 30 years and completed my elementary, middle school and high school education in Greece. I am also fluent in English, because I learned English in Greece during my middle school and high school education. In addition, I have also completed college level coursework in the U.S. to complete a Liberal Arts Degree.

I have had the opportunity to teach Greek for several years. I have taught Greek to adults and children in group settings, face to face private lessons, and online classes. I have worked with adult students that range in careers from medical to government. I also developed a Greek Immersion summer camp for school age students. I used various activities, including games, group assignments, and arts & crafts to instruct during the Greek Immersion Summer Camp.

In addition, I am a Greek Interpreter for various medical institutions. I have interpreted in medical settings that include doctor's offices, hospitals, dental offices, and other medical facilities. I completed college level coursework to teach early childhood education. I also have received training to be a Greek language interpreter. I enjoy helping others learn the Greek language and I hope to help you in the future.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chess

As a language instructor, I have worked in after-school programs and summer camps working with students (ages 3-17). I have used chess and other board games to help students learn a language. In addition, in elementary school and middle school, I participated in a Chess summer camp and the last two years won first place. I have a lot of experience using chess in the classroom while teaching.
