About
Lars: |
|
My name is Lars. I was born in Santa Rosa, CA, and I grew up just south of there in Petaluma. I live in San Francisco now, where I attend San Francisco State University, working on two majors: Music and Spanish.
I spend a lot of my day studying and working. I also love to exercise, go out on the town, hang out with friends, and travel. If there was ever a person who enjoyed life, I am that person! I graduated from Petaluma High School with a 3.33 GPA, and I have since improved upon that, earning a 3.83 GPA thus far in college. I am junior now, and I hope to receive a master's degree in music. After high school, I spent six months studying abroad in Mexico where I honed my Spanish skills and got some experience living in another culture.
I have some experience tutoring Spanish through San Francisco State's Spanish department, and I have taught private guitar lessons off and on since I was 16. I consider myself very advanced in Music and Spanish, and tutoring gives me a chance to learn more while helping people in my community. If there's one thing I want to accomplish, it is to make life better for my peers.
As for my teaching style, I am pretty relaxed, but I can be demanding. I am not strict or harsh, but I do expect the job to be done. I will do all I can to teach what needs to be taught. My methods have been successful for me so far. I always require a lot of student feedback and exchange because I feel that makes for the best results. If you choose me to be your tutor, I promise not to let you down.

Lars's Experience:
guitar
|
Guitar is my life's passion. I practice everyday, more enthusiastically than the day before. I began playing at age 12 after starting on piano and doing some clarinet and bass clarinet in school band. I was on guitar in the high school jazz band, and now I am a jazz guitar major at San Francisco State University where I play in various ensembles. I have taught private lessons since the age of 16, and I am competent in all styles of playing, though my main focus is jazz and world music. To be honest, I love music, especially playing guitar. I am employed at a music store called Inspire Music in San Francisco. There, I currently teach seven students privately, having yielded very positive results. I have been educated thoroughly in playing the guitar. I went to four years of a summer jazz camp, took numerous private lessons since the age of 12, and persisted in being a passionate player who enjoys sharing his knowledge with the world. I can read and compose music, as well as play well by ear and memory. I have honed my private teaching skills for five years now. I can get the job done in a private lesson setting.
