Participants have consistently reviewed the content and presentation of my courses with five out of five stars and report retaining and using the information very well.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University where I graduated with distinction. There, I focused on learning about learning strategies, ADHD, and similar types of issues to help people learn.

Even if you've decided to hire a different tutor, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of the free sessions. People find them very helpful!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

I'm a highly experienced accountant who has specialized in QuickBooks setup and training for over fourteen years, and holds multiple QuickBooks certifications from Intuit, the publishers of QuickBooks.

ADD/ADHD

I've enjoyed working as an elementary school teacher's aide in math and other subjects, including working with students who were diagnosed with ADHD and had other special needs, and working with ESL students whose first language was Spanish.

I graduated with distinction from Sonoma State University, receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology. Through a special studies program at SSU, I designed and completed a community involvement project which included presenting psychoeducational information to adults and facilitating adult support groups around the topic of ADD and ADHD. I later promoted the merging of the group into a larger national group which continues today.

My interests in helping people with ADHD started when I was a child, helping another child with an ADHD through diet and lifestyle changes. At that time I also tutored other children (including with ADHD) during summers in a variety of subjects. The tutoring was completely voluntary -- for both me and the student -- but we had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

I hope for the opportunity to hear from you and help your child to learn as well.

Cooking

I'm in the process of completing premed before pursuing a degree in naturopathic medicine where studying food and nutrition is a high priority. I will continue working full time providing QuickBooks setup and training to small business owners and others, and tutoring in related subjects.

People often ask how the two fields are related. My first thought is that accountants are known to love food. :) I plan to do research and training in naturopathic medicine. That requires a lot of analytical thinking and a high degree of integrity, just like QuickBooks and accounting. There are many other similarities as well. One difference is that natural medicine has been a lifelong passion for me and, though I do really appreciate a beautifully set up accounting system, properly reconciled and in good general order, I even more love helping people become healthier.

I was raised on a farm in the San Francisco Bay Area where I learned how to grow and prepare food naturally.

I began studying food as medicine when I was twelve years old, and have since had the opportunity to work with many people to incorporate healthier diets and lifestyles into their lives.

I'm very familiar with a wide variety of diets, including vegetarian, vegan, raw foods, and gluten-free. I love helping people who are new to making important dietary changes in their lives, especially when they are doing it for health reasons.

I absolutely love helping people learn about food as medicine, and have enjoyed many opportunities to do this both through tutoring friends and family as well as customers at health food stores through my work at these places.

My tutoring with anyone is highly customized to meet each individual students needs, but typically includes listening, sharing research findings in an understandable way, and tutoring on how to incorporate findings into a student's lifestyle.

Using WebEx, I can prepare and show to you articles (such as PubMed articles) related to your current health and dietary issues, so that you can learn how to cook especially for your needs and those of your loved ones.

I might show you a daily routine for optimizing your time and nutrition when cooking from scratch -- a routine highly customized for you that you can incorporate into your lifestyle.

Our tutoring may include many other cooking subtopics as well, and may occur over just a few short online sessions to help you move on to the next phase in meeting your health goals. We could do more session if that's helpful for you.

If you're local (or your location is in my travel plans) cooking tutoring may include cooking new foods for a variety of diets, easily incorporating this new cooking into one's current lifestyle, learning how to shop at your local natural foods market, and more.

Whether online or in person, cooking tutoring may also include such simple suggestions, for example, as how to rinse and soak flax seeds for optimal absorption, while preserving quality beyond that which ground flax may have. In a sense, this comprehensive guidance is like having a personal medical researcher and a professional diet and lifestyle organizer all in one cooking tutor.

I truly enjoy helping to bridge the gap that sometimes exists between allopathic and naturopathic medicine as Western medicine doctors typically get an hour or less of nutrition training in medical school. Fortunately, naturopathic doctors get much more.

I hope to hear from you, even if you're just curious about my particular interests in providing cooking tutoring and helping you to reach your health goals.

To your health,

Christine

Elementary Math

I love tutoring children in math.

As a child I used to tutor groups of children every summer in math and other subjects, and later worked as an elementary school teacher's aid, my favorite job (or a close tie with working with wellness products) other than being a mother.

I've always enjoyed math, from kindergarten math through high school algebra, geometry and beyond and was an "A" student in most math classes. I graduated from Sonoma State University with distinction, after taking math, science, computer, and other classes there. I earned a bachelor's in psychology, with a focus on learning strategies for those with learning differences such as ADHD, and I worked with many adults with ADHD through Sonoma State. Through the elementary school, I gained valuable experience helping children who, for a variety of reasons, were struggling in school.

I love being able to present concepts in ways that are easy for children and others to get, and encouraging them to be themselves and grow and pursue their dreams!

General Computer

I'm experienced in Windows, Mac, Microsoft Office including Word and Excel, QuickBooks accounting software and many other computer programs. I've built websites using PayPal, Shopify, Facebook and more. I love helping new computer users to quickly and easily learn just what they need to in order to reach their goals.

Microsoft Word

I've used Microsoft Word for several decades and both Windows and Mac computers, and I enjoy providing software tutoring to new and experienced users.

QuickBooks

I offer a free first QuickBooks telephone assessment and a free first QuickBooks tutoring session using your QuickBooks file or mine.

FREE FIRST QUICKBOOKS TELEPHONE CONSULTATION. This often includes, depending on need, a QuickBooks file assessment or skills assessment, assistance with QuickBooks software selection, purchase (with a 30% discount!), and download, customized QuickBooks tutoring, and customized QuickBooks file management recommendations, all with no strings attached!

FREE QUICKBOOKS TUTORING SESSION HELD ONLINE AND OVER THE TELEPHONE, USING ONLINE MEETING SOFTWARE. This additional free QuickBooks session allows you to try online tutoring and experience its several surprising benefits. It may include a free overview of QuickBooks and a free assessment to check your QuickBooks file and data health. During the session we can share the view of your screen or mine and control of the cursor while talking on the telephone.

FREE PROFESSIONAL ELECTRONIC QUICKBOOKS HANDOUTS. Most of these handouts are produced by Intuit and include with screenshots.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS. Ask about additional benefits. I try to customize my offerings for each student. Some need very flexible hours (even nights). Some need free quick Q&A in between sessions. Let me know what you need. I'm happy to work with you!

I've designed and led QuickBooks community college courses for the award-winning College of Marin in Marin County, California, and QuickBooks seminars and webinars for participants throughout the United States for many years.

Knowledgeable, patient and flexible — My session with Christine began with a free one hour consultation which was extremely beneficial. I reached out hoping for a quick tutorial on Quickbooks and quickly realized the importance of setting the company file up correctly and everything that needed to be done before just merely sending an invoice to a client.
